Description: Friendly House Mission – Friendly House creates a thriving community by connecting people of all ages and backgrounds through quality educational, recreational, and other life- sustaining services. Job Title – Marketing and Outreach Manager FLSA Classification – non-exempt Salary Grade – $27.00 at 40 hours/week Benefits -Paid time off and sick leave prorated by FTE. 403b with a 4% match after 90 days of employment, medical, dental, and vision coverage, 11.5 Holidays. Discounts on Preschool, After School, and Summer Camp. EAP program, fitness center on site. Reports to – Director of Development and Marketing Work environment – Friendly House campus. The location is in a non-ADA compliant building located at 2617 NW Savier Street, Portland, Oregon. This is a temporary hybrid position due to construction. Currently 2 days on-site (with the expectation of being on-site for events and meetings when needed) and 3 days remote - with changes possible after 7/1/26. Supervision – This position supervises the Marketing Assistant (1 FTE) and Volunteer Coordinator (.5 FTE) Schedule – Working hours are daily M-F, with weekend and evening hours, as necessary and with advanced notice. Date - December 14, 2025 Job Description The Marketing and Outreach Manager is responsible for supervising the team that supports and grows Friendly House’s audiences, endeavors, and impacts. This role puts into action the marketing, communications, outreach, volunteerism, events, and activities designed by Friendly House’s leadership to support our programs, fundraising, and the participants we serve. Essential Functions Marketing & Communications: • Creation and production of agency collateral (programs and fundraising) requested by Directors, including mailings, event collateral, annual reports, presentations, flyers/posters, advertising, signage, and newsletters. • Coordinate distribution of marketing materials online, in-person, and through mail. • Maintain inventory and supply of Friendly House branded materials (e.g.: thank you notes, letterhead, marketing collateral, merchandise, business cards). • Update and maintain the agency’s website and calendar. Design and maintenance of event-specific websites. • Responsible for the agency’s social media accounts and content production. • Track and compile marketing/social media metrics into monthly reports. • Provide photography and video production for events and programs. • Maintain media archives. • Responsible for event AV. • Supervision of the Marketing Assistant. • Copy editing and proofreading for outward-facing materials. • Ensure that our brand is appropriately represented. Enforcement of style guidance. • Member of the Board of Director’s Marketing Committee. Includes creating and distributing minutes/records and agendas, operating plan input, and meeting coordination. • Accomplish goals laid out in the Marketing & Outreach and Volunteer programs’ annual operating plans. • Implementation of systems and procedures to standardize marketing and outreach activities. Outreach, Volunteer • Supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator. • Coordination of public-facing engagement (public appearances, news articles, press releases, other media coverage). • Schedule tabling and/or presentation duties at events where Friendly House is represented. Prepare and maintain tabling supplies for programs. • Support the Volunteer Coordinator in recruitment of volunteers. Program Support • Lead seasonal programs that directly benefit our program participants - Coats and Shoes, Holiday Giving, and maintain the Children’s Program Birthday Closet. • Maintain Friendly House agency wish list. Other Responsibilities • Coverage of Marketing Assistant and/or Volunteer Coordinator responsibilities in the case of limited absence. • Support Friendly House community building mission. • Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings. • Other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience • Graphic design experience. • Bachelor's in Communications, Marketing, Design or a related field, or 2+ years of experience in a marketing or related role. • Excellent proofreading and copy-editing skills. • Excellent computer skills, including competency in Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Word Press, and Adobe Illustrator. • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and OneDrive/SharePoint. • Excellent customer service skills. • Open-minded, inclusive, and willing to work with a diverse population. Additional Eligibility Requirements • Must be authorized to work in the United States. Employer Sponsorship and support are not provided for this role. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at time of hire. • Must successfully complete a State of Oregon criminal history (ORCHARDS) background check. • Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a private vehicle. • Must have an acceptable MVR meeting the agency insurance standard. Physical Demands Employees must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time up to 40-70%, with the ability to move, and traverse in the office and work environment. Use hands/fingers to handle/feel. Operate the computer and other office equipment. Occasionally, they ascend stairs or walk in uneven terrain. May need to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend. Communicate information and ideas so others will understand and exchange accurate information in these situations. The ability to see or observe details at close range. May lift or move items up to 40lbs. May be exposed to smells, cold/heat, and outdoor environments.
