Francophone Charter School of Oakland - School Custodian at Lower Campus > School Custodian at Lower Campus Francophone Charter School of Oakland School Custodian at Lower Campus Francophone Charter School of Oakland Description Length of Work Year: 12 Months, 8 Hours Per Day Employment Type: Full Time Non-Exempt Location: Lower Campus, 2634 Pleasant Street, Oakland, CA 94602 Salary: $18.00/hour The Organization Francophone Charter School of Oakland is a French immersion charter school that opened its doors in 2015. Our mission is to provide a dual-immersion curriculum to a diverse community of students and to develop bilingual and bi-literate global citizens who are open minded and who value intellectual curiosity, personal integrity and creativity. Summary of Position: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, clean and maintain an assigned school facility in a clean, orderly, and secure manner. The role is essential to support the daily operations of the school and involves various cleaning tasks and minor maintenance duties under the direction of the Operation Manager. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: This position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge, or abilities associated with this classification, but is intended to accurately reflect the principal job elements. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Sweep, mop, strip, wax, and seal floors; vacuum rugs and carpets. • Dust, wash, and polish furniture and woodwork. • Empty and clean waste receptacles, including trash barrels. • Clean restrooms • Wash windows and walls, polish metal work and clean whiteboards. • Move and arrange furniture and equipment in preparing multipurpose rooms or classrooms for special events or meetings. • Pick up paper and other debris from school grounds, walk areas, and the areas adjacent to the school facilities; sweep concrete surfaces adjacent to the school buildings. • Perform special maintenance projects as assigned. • Perform emergency cleanup service resulting from breakage, vandalism, spilling, and illness. • Assist in maintaining school security and fire safety as assigned; assist in maintaining fire extinguishers. • Communicate with students, faculty, and the public; provide directions or other information; establish communication according to established guidelines. • Perform minor maintenance work as assigned. • Perform related duties as assigned. • Perform deep cleaning during breaks and summer time. • Wash floors and rugs as needed. • Help with minor maintenance repairs and painting. • Help with maintaining the garden and plants. ABILITY TO: • Efficiently and effectively use cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment. • Understand and follow oral and written directions. • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. • Perform simple and repetitive tasks Requirements TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to: Graduation from high school and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Personality and character suitable to work in schools. Employment eligibility includes fingerprints, Tuberculosis and/or other employment clearance. ENVIRONMENT: Indoor and outdoor environment; driving a vehicle to conduct work; seasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditions; exposure to chemicals related to cleaning; working around machinery with moving parts. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate assigned tools and equipment; seeing to perform custodial work; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally; bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching; lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling moderately heavy objects; standing for extended periods of time; performing heavy physical labor.
