Full Description

The position of Teacher Assistant is central to the success of Saturday Academy. Teacher Assistants provide logistic support for Saturday Academy operations, while facilitating a higher level of instructional quality by reducing the student/teacher ratio in classrooms. Minimum Qualifications • High School Diploma or equivalent required. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Comfortable providing academic and socio-emotional support to diverse middle school and high school learners. • Organized and reliable with the ability to follow directions and program guidelines. • Culturally responsive and committed to educational equity. • Availability to work Saturdays during academic year and summer sessions. Preferred Qualifications • Bachelors/associates degree or current enrollment/college coursework in education, math, science, science or a related field. • Background supporting first-generation, low-income, or English learner students. Essential Duties • Assist teachers with classroom management, small group instruction, and hands-on activities. • Facilitate with Saturday Academy logistics (e.g. setup and takedown, mealtimes, student check-in in and check-out, operations involved in Family Accompaniment, etc.). Support enrichment activities and field trip supervision as needed.
