About the Role: The Shipping Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of outgoing shipments within a warehouse or distribution center. This position is responsible for coordinating the preparation, packaging, and dispatch of orders to meet customer requirements and delivery schedules. The Shipping Clerk will manage inventory movement by utilizing various warehouse equipment and technology to maintain accuracy and safety. Attention to detail and adherence to shipping protocols are essential to prevent errors and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards. Ultimately, this role supports the overall supply chain by facilitating timely and organized shipping operations that contribute to customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent. • Experience in a warehouse or shipping/receiving environment. • Proficiency in operating electric pallet jacks, pallet jacks, and RF scanners. • Basic knowledge of bar code scanning and order picking processes. • Ability to lift and move heavy objects safely and follow safety protocols. Preferred Qualifications: • Previous experience with shipping software or warehouse management systems (WMS). • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and compliance. • Strong organizational and communication skills. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. • Forklift certification or experience operating other warehouse machinery. Responsibilities: • Prepare and process shipping documents including bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping labels. • Operate warehouse equipment such as electric pallet jacks and pallet jacks to move goods safely and efficiently. • Use RF scanners and bar code technology to accurately track and record inventory movement and order fulfillment. • Coordinate with receiving and inventory teams to ensure orders are picked, packed, and shipped correctly and on time. • Inspect outgoing shipments for accuracy, quality, and compliance with shipping standards and customer specifications. • Maintain a clean and organized shipping area to promote safety and efficiency. • Communicate with carriers and logistics providers to schedule pickups and resolve shipping issues. Skills: The required skills such as bar code scanning and RF scanner operation are essential for accurately tracking inventory and ensuring orders are fulfilled correctly. Proficiency with electric pallet jacks and pallet jacks enables the Shipping Clerk to move goods efficiently while maintaining safety standards. General warehouse knowledge supports understanding of shipping and receiving workflows, which is critical for coordinating daily tasks and meeting deadlines. Order picking and filling skills ensure that customer orders are prepared accurately and dispatched on time, reducing errors and returns.
