The Lead Aviation Support Engineer will ensure reliable day-to-day operations for customers while serving as the technical bridge between frontline support, engineering, and operations. This role involves providing advanced technical guidance, resolving case escalations, and delivering feedback for product development.
Candidates should have over 10 years of experience in technical support or engineering, with expertise in troubleshooting robotic or autonomous systems. A strong knowledge of Embedded Linux, electrical and mechanical hardware, and general IT understanding is essential.

The Team The Aviation team is responsible for building world class remotely piloted aircraft and supporting ground systems for public safety customers. To give first responders an eye on the scene, we build flying cameras (drones) that push the boundaries of connectivity, video transmission, power and thermal management, and imaging. We build platforms that are meant to fly thousands of missions without human intervention in harsh environments across the country. We deliver these drones to our customers as a service and ensure they are able to operate them with safety and compliance without the need to become aviation experts themselves The Opportunity Flock is accelerating growth in the Drone as a First Responder (DFR) market by building and managing robust in-house DFR infrastructure. The Lead Aviation Support Engineer will be pivotal in ensuring reliable day-to-day operations for our customers while serving as the technical bridge between frontline support, engineering, and operations. In this role, you will: Provide advanced technical guidance to Tier 2 support for general troubleshooting. Own and resolve case escalations for Tier 3 support in partnership with the engineering development team. Deliver critical feedback loops to engineering for iterative product development. Collaborate with operations to drive customer issue resolution. The Skillset 10+ years of experience in a technical support, engineering, or related role. Proven expertise troubleshooting and remotely supporting robotic or autonomous systems. Strong working knowledge of Embedded Linux environments. Familiarity with electrical and mechanical hardware (motors, sensors, controllers). General IT understanding of networking and cloud infrastructure. Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and development teams to resolve technical issues. Strong organizational skills for issue tracking, escalation management, and documentation. Experience interfacing directly with customers in high-stakes or technical contexts. Ability to review logs, trace faults, and perform in-depth troubleshooting of complex systems. Skilled in producing clear troubleshooting guides and knowledge base content for Tier 2 support. Preferred Qualifications: Experience analyzing historical robotic path and telemetry data (e.g., RViz, PX4Tools, or similar). Background in teleoperation of robotic systems. Experience managing or leading technical support teams. Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud technologies, including visualization and database tools (Grafana, Sigma, Tableau, etc.). The First 60 Days Expand your knowledge of Flock’s broader organizational structure and full product portfolio. Define key control points and processes required for effective remote support of aviation products. Initiate development of a dashboard to monitor fleet-wide health, reliability, and operational performance. 90 Days & Beyond Take an active role in testing, deployment, and operational support of Flock aviation products. Build and maintain a scalable library of support documentation and troubleshooting resources. Provide structured feedback to engineering and operations teams, driving continuous reliability and product improvements. Salary & Equity In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary between $150,000 - 175,000 as well as Flock Safety Stock Options.
