JOB SUMMARY The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing product inspections to ensure compliance with customer specifications, welding codes, and material requirements. This role initiates, documents, and tracks non-conformance reports and maintains accurate records of all inspection activities to support product quality and customer satisfaction. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Oversee all phases of production, from receipt of raw materials through shipment of finished goods. • Perform dimensional inspections to verify component fit and overall product configuration. • Review plans, contracts, and specifications required for fabrication. • Evaluate shop drawings for potential fabrication or inspection issues. • Observe shop assemblies, ensuring required dimensions are obtained and properly recorded. • Monitor production welding activities and perform final inspections of weldments for compliance with codes and specifications. • Assess welder workmanship and alert production supervision when additional training is required. • Witness welding procedures and welder qualification tests. • Initiate non-conformance reports, tag affected materials, and track repair progress. • Act independently of manufacturing—under guidance from the Quality Manager—to ensure quality policies and procedures are followed. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS • High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Basic math proficiency. • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required. • Ability to pass a near-vision eye exam (Jaeger J2 at 12 in. or greater), with or without corrective lenses. • Annual testing for color contrast differentiation. • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
