Safety Trainer job at Flatiron/Dragados, LLC. Virginia Beach, VA. Safety Trainer Are you passionate about promoting a culture of safety in the workplace and making a real difference in preventing accidents and injuries? As Safety Trainer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of onsite construction activities by identifying onsite construction hazards and provide support to mitigate hazards using prescribed methods. Be part of our incredible Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel Expansion, a 17.6-mile engineering marvel connecting Virginia Beach to the Eastern Shore. We're building the Parallel Thimble Shoal Tunnel, a cutting-edge, two-lane bored tunnel beneath the Thimble Shoal Channel the first of its kind in the Mid-Atlantic to be constructed using a tunnel boring machine (TBM). This project will enhance traffic flow by adding dedicated southbound lanes while the existing tunnel carries northbound traffic. From deep foundations to tunnel boring innovation, this is your chance to contribute to a historic infrastructure achievement. What You Will Be Doing Identifies and documents onsite safety risks or discrepancies during daily site walks. Tracks safety issues daily and recommends strategies to eliminate hazards, as needed. Evaluates and identifies all safety equipment needs for project work. Participates in daily and weekly meetings to ensure all necessary equipment is ordered, stocked and available for upcoming work. Assists in investigations and reporting regarding accidents, injuries or illnesses, fire, property damage and other safety related incidents to ensure timely and compliant resolutions. Recommends improvements based on reporting trends. Works closely with onsite work crews to provide first aid and emergency services to any onsite injury or incident. Ensures worksite injuries are accurately documented and offsite medical clinics attend to employee injury in an accurate and timely manner. Supports evaluation of subcontractors and subcontractor safety programs. Notifies management of any non-compliant safety procedures and participates in corrective action discussions to resolve in a timely manner. What We Are Looking For High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in organizational health & safety or related field preferred. Experience in construction industry or safety internship preferred. Able to take ownership for assigned tasks, as defined by supervisor. General knowledge of construction site equipment, methods and processes. Verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills required. Growing knowledge to control or eliminate hazards following prescribed methods.
