Flash Metals USA is a pioneering clean-tech industrial company based in Houston, Texas, focused on sustainable domestic processing and recovery of rare earth elements and other critical metals using its proprietary Flash Joule Heating (FJH) technology. As the company expands its U.S. operations, Flash Metals USA is building in-house analytical and laboratory capabilities to support research, process development, quality control, and future commercial-scale operations. The Laboratory Manager is responsible for overseeing the completion, commissioning, and day-to-day operation of Flash Metals USA’s Anahuac laboratory. This role leads laboratory staff, establishes analytical workflows, manages sample handling and data integrity, and ensures all analytical outputs meet company standards for accuracy, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. The role is well suited to an experienced analytical chemistry professional who is comfortable operating instrumentation, supervising technical staff, and building laboratory systems from the ground up in a regulated environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Lead, supervise, and mentor laboratory staff, fostering a disciplined, high-performance and safety-focused work environment. • Complete commissioning and continuous improvement of the Anahuac analytical laboratory. • Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs, quality control procedures, and laboratory workflows. • Manage daily laboratory operations, scheduling, and operational readiness. • Coordinate sample receipt, logging, chain-of-custody, tracking, and data integrity processes. • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation including ICP-OES, ICP-MS, UV-Vis, XRF, and related equipment. • Review, validate, and report analytical data to ensure accuracy and compliance with quality standards. • Maintain calibration records, maintenance logs, inventory controls, and laboratory documentation. • Support audits, inspections, and internal reviews through accurate record-keeping and documentation retrieval. • Promote a strong laboratory safety culture, including chemical management, waste disposal, and incident reporting. • Provide technical summaries and analytical reports to leadership, R&D, and project teams. • Support laboratory scalability and readiness for future facility expansion. QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field. • Significant hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation, including ICP-OES, ICP-MS, UV-Vis, and XRF. • Minimum of two years’ experience in a laboratory management or supervisory role. • Strong understanding of laboratory quality control, data integrity, and analytical workflows. • Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills. Preferred • Experience commissioning or establishing a new laboratory facility. • Background in metallurgical testing, brine chemistry, mineral processing, or related environments. • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems • Familiarity with U.S. government contract compliance or export-controlled materials. Work Conditions & Requirements • U.S. citizenship is required due to federal regulatory requirements. • Position based at Anahuac, Texas. • Regular travel to League City and other company locations is required. • Role requires ongoing eligibility to work within federally regulated environments. • Occasional travel to future project sites or vendor locations. • Employment is contingent on successful background, reference, and employment verification checks.
