The role: We are seeking an innovative and enthusiastic Senior Research Associate, or Associate Scientist, to join the Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) team. We are looking for an individual who enjoys hands-on laboratory benchwork and brings scientific rigor and intellectual curiosity to the production of nucleic acid therapeutics. They will work cross-functionally with internal teams and external labs to advance the FL87 platform. Key responsibilities: • The successful candidate will be part of the team responsible for producing and characterizing nucleic acid therapeutics. • Synthesize and purify routine nucleic acid products for preclinical studies. • Operate and maintain lab instruments such as Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography (AKTA) system, Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) system, biosafety cabinets (BSC), nanodrop, pH meters, and incubators. • Experience in preparing buffers for purification. • Assist in establishing and optimizing nucleic acid manufacturing scale-up capabilities. • Perform routine analytical and bioanalytical tasks such as HPLC, fragment analysis, UV, and fluorescence. • Maintain up-to-date records and communicate results with team members through written technical reports and oral presentations. • Interpret, summarize experimental data, and keep detailed laboratory notebooks. Qualifications: • BS with 1-5 years, MS with 1-3 years of academic or industry experience in nucleic acid manufacturing. • Attention to detail, multitasking ability, and troubleshooting skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Strong record-keeping and data management skills. • The ideal candidate is adaptable, eager for new challenges, naturally curious, and passionate about learning. • Experience working in fast-paced startup environments. • Excellent organization skills and an efficient approach to tasks. • Ability to analyze, summarize, and communicate scientific data. • Ability to work independently while effectively engaging and collaborating within a team environment. The salary range for this role is $81,000 - $107,250. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
