Position Overview: The Director of Youth & Worship Arts leads a vibrant, Christ-centered ministry that integrates traditional youth formation with active participation in worship through music and the arts. This position nurtures middle schoolers, high schoolers, and young adults as disciples, leaders, and contributors to the worship life of First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown. The role intentionally bridges youth ministry and music ministry, fostering intergenerational worship, creative expression, and long-term engagement in the life of the church. Accountability: Reports to the Associate Pastor, works collaboratively with the Discipling Children and Youth committee, Music and Worship committees, pastoral staff, the Director of Music Ministry and administration support professionals. Key Responsibilities: • Relationship Building • Cultivate meaningful, authentic relationships with youth and their families within the church and local community. • Serve as a trusted spiritual mentor and role model, promoting spiritual formation, biblical literacy, and active participation in the life of the church, while supporting and encouraging youth to live into the 25 Ways of FPCM. • Maintain connections with young adults, encouraging continued engagement with the congregation. • Program Development and Leadership • Design, coordinate, and oversee dynamic, age-appropriate ministry programs that foster faith development and community among youth and young adults. • Oversee and facilitate with the support of existing volunteer leaders: • Weekly youth group meetings (Wednesday and Sunday evenings) • Sunday School classes for middle and high school students • Retreats, service projects, and fellowship events. • Equip and mentor youth musicians, singers, and worship leaders in both musical skill and theological understanding of worship through leading and / or coordinating: youth choirs; youth worship team / vocalists and musicians; seasonal or project-based ensembles • Team Collaboration • Partner with the Director of Children and Family Ministries to support family ministry and ensure smooth transitions from elementary to middle school. • Collaborate with the Director of Music Ministry and Contemporary Worship leadership in planning repertoire, rehearsal schedules, and worship leadership opportunities for young people. • Support and engage in “all-church” initiatives such as Vacation Bible School • Volunteer Recruitment and Management • Recruit, equip, and support a team of volunteers to serve in various roles within youth and music ministry. • Ensure all volunteers adhere to church safety and child protection policies. • Provide ongoing training, encouragement, and recognition for volunteer leaders. • Communication and Technology • Maintain regular communication with youth, parents, and volunteers through email, social media, and other platforms. • Use digital tools to enhance engagement and track program participation. • Administrative and Budget Oversight • Manage the youth and worship arts budget responsibly, including tracking expenses and submitting timely reports. • Coordinate calendar of events in collaboration with church staff to avoid scheduling conflicts and maximize participation.
