Proven experience managing complex IT programs with integration and delivery planning, familiarity with AMI or utility technology projects, strong communication and leadership skills, and ability to align business and technical needs.
Position Overview: The IT Senior Project Manager will support the AMI 2.0 Program, a major Advanced Metering Infrastructure initiative at Southern California Edison (SCE). This position is responsible for leading critical pre-planning and system integrator engagement efforts to ensure seamless technical and operational delivery across multiple workstreams. The ideal candidate will bring a strong mix of technical understanding, project leadership, and strategic coordination, driving alignment across IT, business units, and vendor partners. Key Responsibilities: • Lead and manage large-scale IT program planning activities for the AMI 2.0 initiative. • Develop and maintain comprehensive resource plans covering roles, skills, costs, and effort estimates across integration, data, infrastructure, and testing domains. • Support solution blueprinting and define the scope, schedule, and budget from a technical perspective. • Facilitate business process mapping and requirements gathering to align functional and technical needs with system integrator responsibilities. • Coordinate technical feasibility reviews, solution design validation, and preparation for Build Phase activities such as environment readiness, testing strategy, and deployment rollout. • Partner with cross-functional teams, including IT, business stakeholders, and external vendors, to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables. • Provide leadership and oversight throughout Planning & Analyze phases, integrating technical and operational planning efforts. Required Skills & Attributes: • Proven experience managing large IT programs involving complex integration and delivery planning. • Strong background in resource planning, solution blueprinting, and implementation management. • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional leadership skills. • Familiarity with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), smart grid, or large utility technology projects. • Ability to bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions effectively. Desired Skills & Attributes: • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or a related discipline (including liberal arts). • Understanding of utility technology priorities, strategic objectives, and IT investment areas. • Experience presenting technical concepts to non-technical audiences and senior leadership. • Background in corporate strategy, strategic planning, or management consulting.
