Position Title: Vice President of Government Affairs Division/Department: Fincantieri Marine Group Location: Washington, D.C. Reports To: Chief Executive Officer   Fincantieri Marine Group is hiring for a Vice President of Government Affairs at our Washington, D.C. This executive will build and maintain trusted relationships with senior officials across the U.S. Government — including the Department of Defense, Navy, Congress, and the White House — to advance corporate priorities and strengthen the company’s role in supporting the nation’s defense and industrial base.   This position requires a leader with deep understanding of government operations, policy formulation, and legislative processes, as well as experience navigating classified and sensitive matters.   Traveling, domestic and international, may be required.   Essential Skills and Functions * Government Relations Strategy: Lead and execute federal relations initiatives that advance FMG’s defense and maritime priorities. * Stakeholder & Policy Engagement: Represent the company with key government leaders and agencies while monitoring and influencing policy and legislation. * Executive Advising & Compliance: Counsel leadership on political and regulatory matters and ensure all activities meet ethics, lobbying, and security standards. * Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills * Must have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills * Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor * All employees are required to adhere to ISO and OHSAS policies established by FMG and shall have high values for safety awareness * Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws including but not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems, and develop employees with the skills, abilities, competencies and values needed to achieve the Company goals * Demonstrates leadership skills that align with the mission, vision, and values of the Company * Other duties as assigned   Competencies Fincantieri’s core competencies reflect our strategy, culture, and values, outlining key behavioral expectations for all employees: * Open Mindset: Identify and solve problems, embrace change, and seek continuous learning. * Strategic Leadership: Build trust, unity, and accountability while guiding others toward shared goals. * Accomplishment: Take ownership, deliver results within scope and quality standards, and ensure customer satisfaction. * Social Connection: Collaborate across teams, communicate effectively, and value diversity and inclusion. * Leadership Excellence: At FMG, leaders have the added responsibility of leading by example through strong communication, integrity, and performance; foster open feedback, empower teams, remove barriers to change, and inspire others to achieve business success.   Physical Demands and Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and occasionally stand or walk; use hands to handle materials or equipment; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel; and talk or hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
