Senior Manager - Digital Engineering Join Ferguson as a Senior Manager, Digital Engineering and help shape the future of our digital platform. In this leadership role, you'll guide engineering teams responsible for building scalable, secure, and reliable digital solutions while driving the modernization of our technology landscape. You'll partner closely with Product, Architecture, and Engineering leaders to deliver innovative platform capabilities, improve engineering practices, and accelerate the transformation of legacy applications into modern cloud-native services. Duties and Responsibilities: Lead and develop high-performing engineering teams responsible for delivering scalable, secure, and reliable digital platform capabilities. Drive modernization initiatives by transforming legacy applications into cloud-native solutions using modern architectural patterns, including APIs, microservices, and event-driven design. Establish and continuously improve engineering best practices across software development, testing, CI/CD, observability, security, and operational readiness. Provide technical leadership by reviewing solution designs, guiding architectural decisions, mitigating risks, and promoting scalable, maintainable solutions. Partner with Product Management, Architecture, UX, Infrastructure, Security, and other stakeholders to deliver business priorities while balancing speed, quality, and technical debt. Ensure platform reliability and operational excellence through proactive monitoring, incident management, performance optimization, and continuous improvement. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning across engineering teams. Recruit, mentor, and retain top engineering talent while supporting career development, performance management, and succession planning. Coach engineering managers, technical leads, and software engineers to strengthen technical capability and leadership across the organization. Drive engineering excellence by improving delivery predictability, development velocity, software quality, and customer outcomes. Lead teams through organizational and technology transformation initiatives, helping accelerate Ferguson's digital modernization journey. Required Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading engineering teams. Proven success leading application modernization, digital transformation, or large-scale technology initiatives. Strong software engineering foundation with prior hands-on development experience in modern application architectures. Experience building and delivering cloud-native, distributed applications and services. Knowledge of modern architectural patterns, including APIs, microservices, event-driven systems, and integration frameworks. Experience implementing engineering best practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, DevSecOps, observability, and production support. Strong understanding of system scalability, resiliency, performance optimization, and operational excellence. Experience working within Agile product delivery organizations and delivering sophisticated enterprise software solutions. Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs and make sound decisions that balance business objectives, technical debt, and long-term platform sustainability. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with Product Management, Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, and other multi-functional stakeholders. Strong communication, leadership, and team development skills, with a passion for mentoring engineers and building high-performing teams.
