Vice President of Partners for Rural Transformation Department: Partners for Rural Transformation Reports To: President of PRT Job Summary: The Vice President of PRT will serve as a key member of the leadership team, providing strategic oversight, programmatic expertise, and external representation. This role requires strong decision-making ability, supervisory skills, and the capacity to connect diverse program areas with research, policy, and communications strategies. The Vice President will act as a trusted advisor and, where needed, represent PRT leadership in meetings, speaking engagements, and stakeholder interactions, ensuring continuity of leadership and organizational vision. Key Responsibilities: • Provide enterprise-wide strategic leadership, aligning programmatic work with organizational goals and priorities. • Supervise and mentor staff, fostering professional growth and accountability across teams. • Make informed, timely decisions that balance programmatic needs, policy considerations, and organizational strategy. • Demonstrate diverse programmatic expertise, ensuring integration of research, communications, and program initiatives. • Maintain awareness of relevant policies and political dynamics, advising leadership on implications for organizational strategy. • Represent the organization externally, as needed, at stakeholder meetings, conferences, and public speaking engagements. • Serve as a thought leader, contributing to the development of innovative approaches and positioning the organization as a trusted voice in its field. • Strengthen collaboration across departments, ensuring program work is effectively connected to research and communications strategies. • Support the President and leadership team in advancing enterprise-wide initiatives and long-term strategic planning. Qualifications & Requirements: Education: • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. Experience: • Proven ability to make sound decisions in complex and dynamic environments. • Demonstrated supervisory experience with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams. • Broad programmatic expertise across multiple disciplines or sectors. • Strong policy awareness and political savvy, with the ability to navigate external landscapes effectively. • Experience in thought leadership, strategy development, and organizational growth. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to represent the organization confidently to diverse audiences. • Ability to connect programmatic work with research, policy, and communications strategies to maximize impact. • Experience in executive-level representation or serving as a deputy to senior leadership preferred. Work Environment & Physical Requirements: • Primarily a sedentary role, requiring extensive use of a computer. • Ability to travel on a plane, as job requires. • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
