The Communications Specialist plays a key role in advancing enterprise visibility and reputation through strategic content development, media relations, and global communications support. This role requires a forward-thinking communicator who understands emerging technologies, including AI, and can leverage them to optimize storytelling and engagement across multiple platforms. Key Responsibilities • Optimize Communications for AI Visibility • * Support enterprise AI visibility strategy by creating and formatting content for large language models (LLMs), including blog posts, press releases, awards, multimedia, and newsroom assets. • Stay informed on AI trends and emerging technologies relevant to corporate communications, media relations, and reputation management. • Incorporate AI tools to enhance storytelling, streamline workflows, and measure impact effectively. • Build connections with media outlets influential in AI model training. • Media Relations • * Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries; evaluate and coordinate responses aligned with business objectives. • Pitch stories to local and industry trade media outlets that support business priorities. • Develop and maintain relationships with key reporters across local and trade media. • Prepare and support company spokespeople with briefing materials, talking points, and media training. • Coordinate media visits to company facilities in collaboration with operations leadership. • Partner with global issues and public affairs teams on sensitive issues and crisis communications. • Draft press releases, blog posts, social content, op-eds, and other digital materials to drive engagement. • Track media coverage and sentiment; provide regular analysis and actionable insights to leadership. • Global Communications • * Collaborate with regional communications teams (APAC, MEISA, Europe, LAC) to activate global storytelling plans. • Build strong relationships with regional peers to align messaging and provide corporate guidance. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field. • Three years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, or public relations. • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives. • Familiarity with AI tools and emerging technologies in communications. • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across diverse teams. • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree/equivalent. Minimum Experience Three (3) years directly related experience. More advanced degrees may offset experience requirements. A related Master’s Degree equals two (2) years experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated experience in institutional or corporate communications with an emphasis on communication planning/analysis and exposure to print and non-print media strategies. Ability to study complex data and broad business strategy and convert into practical, effective communication strategies. Proficient analytical, problem-solving, organization, creativity, grammar, writing and human relations/relation management skills. Preferred Qualifications: Pay Transparency: Pay: Memphis, TN pay range: $5,662.27/mo - $9,342.75/mo; Pittsburgh, PA pay range: $5,960.29/mo - $9,834.48/mo; Plano, TX pay range: $5,960.29/mo - $9,834.48/mo Additional Details: This position will be hybrid in Memphis, TN, Pittsburgh, PA, or Plano, TX and candidates must live within a 50 mile radius. This position is hybrid, meaning employees will be required to work at a FedEx Campus location several times per week.
