Job Description: Medical Biller & Coder (2YRS EXP RQ) Medical Biller & Coder (Pediatrics) • Fairfield Pediatrics | Wayne, MI • 21–30 hours per week • Starting Pay: $20/hr (growth potential) Job Summary • Revenue-cycle role supporting an independent, physician-led pediatric practice • Responsible for billing, coding, claims, denials, and patient account management • In-person position, with the potential to become partially remote in the future • Must be comfortable working under the direction of a physician • Ideal for a highly detail-oriented individual who values accuracy, organization, and accountability • Seeking a reliable individual, not a billing company or agency Required Qualifications (Deal Breakers) • Minimum 2 years of hands-on medical billing and coding experience • Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS • Experience submitting and tracking claims through Availity, CHAMPS, and payer portals • Must live in Michigan and work on-site in Wayne, MI • Individuals only (no billing companies, agencies, or outsourced services) • Comfortable following physician direction and office protocols • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to work independently Preferred Qualifications • Pediatric or family practice billing experience • Familiarity with immunization and VFC billing preferred but not required • CPC, CCS, or equivalent certification • Experience with claim denials and appeals Key Responsibilities • Accurate coding and charge entry for visits and procedures • Submit, track, and resolve insurance claims • Manage denials, appeals, and underpayments • Generate patient statements and respond to billing inquiries • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits • Maintain HIPAA compliance • Provide billing and AR reports to the physician Schedule & Work Environment • Part-time: 21–30 hours per week • In-person required • Potential for partial remote work in the future based on performance and office needs • Small, physician-led practice environment Perks & Benefits • Competitive hourly pay with performance-based raises • Flexible scheduling within practice needs • Opportunity for professional growth • Stable, long-term position About Fairfield Pediatrics • Independent, physician-owned pediatric practice • Patient-focused care with an emphasis on professionalism, accuracy, and teamwork • Supportive, structured work environment This Role Is Not a Good Fit For • Individuals seeking a fully remote or out-of-state position • Billing companies, agencies, or outsourced services • Applicants seeking an independent contractor–style role • Candidates uncomfortable working under the direction of a physician • Individuals who are not detail-oriented or who rush through work Important Pre-Screening Notice This position is in-person in Wayne, MI and is for an individual employee only.
