Primary Purpose A highly qualified FERC Regulatory attorney who is able to work independently and has major matter, team and client responsibilities. Work involves handling matters of very substantial legal and policy importance, interfacing with management and teams at all levels, and frequent coordination and oversight of professional teams working on legal matters, internally and externally. Primary Duties Performs as a specialist in federal regulatory and administrative law (particularly focused on FERC and PJM experience), provides technical and expert legal services to Exelon Business Units and has a strong, detailed understanding of the electric/gas utility business. With little or no supervision, plans, conducts and supervises large and highly complex legal assignments; evaluates both legal and business risks of initiatives in order to advise clients. Represents Exelon Business Units in both transactional matters, regulatory proceedings, and other relevant matters. Provides legal counsel to all levels of management, including senior management. Provides lead direction and/or project leadership direction to less experienced attorneys and support staff. Prepare, and revise as necessary, budgets and early matter assessments for all matters involving outside counsel. Projects / duties as assigned. Job Scope • Works independently and with other attorneys on complex federal regulatory matters with Business Units and outside counsel. • Demonstrates superior legal judgment in the business and industry context. Anticipates and understands trends in areas of law related to the business/industry. • Demonstrates ability and willingness to solve complex, difficult problems and be very proactive in doing so. • Strong leadership skills; ability to work in stressful conditions under time deadlines Minimum Qualifications • An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdictions. • At least 10-12 years of professional experience working in utility regulatory proceedings. • Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of the legal field to the completion of complex assignments. • Requires excellent legal research, analytical abilities and on ongoing knowledge of federal, regional, and/or state law. Preferred Qualifications • Experience in administrative litigation including appearing before administrative law judges, preparing and presenting cases, managing the discovery process, and proceeding to hearing. • Experience working with technical experts, both internally and externally, to prepare and present testimony • Strong legal writing experience including briefs submitted with complex fact issues, and pleadings on technical subjects incorporating complex fact patterns into issues of law in a manner accessible to non-experts • Experience presenting to and providing direct advice and counsel to clients, including senior management • Experience managing, developing, and supervising attorneys and legal support staff Benefits Benefits • Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $186,400.00/Yr. – $256,300.00/Yr. plus an additional $25K in Long Term Incentive Plan annually. • Annual Bonus for eligible positions: 25% • 401(k) match and annual company contribution • Medical, dental and vision insurance • Life and disability insurance • Generous paid time off options, including vacation, sick time, floating and fixed holidays, maternity leave and bonding/primary caregiver leave or parental leave • Employee Assistance Program and resources for mental and emotional support • Wellbeing programs such as tuition reimbursement, adoption and surrogacy assistance and fitness reimbursement • Referral bonus program • And much more Note: Exelon-sponsored compensation and benefit programs may vary or not apply based on length of service, job grade, job classification or represented status.
