Full Description

Description HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE: As the Engineering Manager, Data Engineering, you will lead the design and operation of a modern, mission-driven data ecosystem for the world’s largest Catholic media network. You’ll own the architecture, implementation, and sustainment of our data platforms—deploying a Customer Data Platform (CDP), a scalable cloud lakehouse/warehouse (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake), and cross-platform analytics tools (Mixpanel, PostHog) to unify data across all digital properties. You’ll combine hands-on data engineering expertise with strategic leadership to transform fragmented donor, marketing, and content data into actionable insights that power evangelization, audience engagement, and operational efficiency. What You Will Do • Architect & Build: Implement a unified data lake using medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold layers) to ingest, cleanse, enrich, and activate data from sources like Virtuous CRM, HubSpot, FlexFormz, and streaming/video platforms. • Integrate & Automate: Create robust ETL/ELT pipelines with tools like dbt, Apache Airflow, and Fabric Dataflows to deliver Supporter 360 and Household 360 views, enabling identity resolution and multi-touch attribution. • Enable Insights: Partner with analysts and business teams to design metrics, dashboards (Power BI), and self-service data products that support fundraising, marketing, and content strategy. • Champion Data Quality: Establish governance, automated hygiene loops (email, address, phone validation), and standardized identity matching rules, ensuring compliance with GDPR/CCPA. • Lead & Collaborate: Manage a small engineering team and vendor partners, mentoring talent while working cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Mission Advancement, and Content teams. • Activate Data: Drive real-time data activation via APIs, reverse ETL, and CDP integrations for personalized, omni-channel engagement. About You • 7+ years in data engineering/architecture, with at least 3 years in leadership roles. • Proven experience with cloud data platforms (Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar) and modern pipeline tools (dbt, Airflow, Fivetran). • Expertise in data modeling, identity resolution, and integrating diverse sources (CRM, marketing automation, e-commerce, OTT). • Strong SQL, Python, and BI/visualization skills (Power BI, Tableau, Looker). • Experience with data governance, privacy compliance, and vendor management. • Familiarity with legacy systems, such as Virtuous CRM. • Experience with digital media or streaming analytics. • Passion for leveraging data in service of a faith-based, mission-driven organization, ideally a practicing Catholic with spiritual maturity. What You’ll Love About Working Here • We offer a career with purpose! Apply your God-given talents, knowing your contributions help to advance EWTN’s mission of sharing the Gospel with the world. • Caring environment. We value the importance of family/life balance and welcome you as an EWTN family member, not just an employee. • Worship at work! Freedom to participate in Mass, visit the chapel for prayer or attend an annual retreat. • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package including Health, Dental, Vision, Life & Disability insurance and Retirement Savings Plan. • 11 Paid Holidays and generous Paid Time Off program. • Tuition reimbursement for online continuing education and degree programs through our partnership with Catholic International University. • Ability to learn alongside legacy employees while bringing new ideas to the growing team.
