About The Role The role sits at the core of a distributed services platform, owning the APIs, data flows, and infrastructure that power user-facing products used by millions of customers daily. You will work closely with frontend and mobile engineers to ship reliable, low-latency backend services — designing data models, tuning performance, and making architectural decisions that hold up at scale. Key Responsibilities • Design, build, and maintain REST and gRPC APIs in Go or Python that serve production traffic at scale • Own data modeling and query performance for PostgreSQL and Redis, including schema design, indexing strategy, and migration workflows • Build event-driven systems using Kafka or AWS SQS/SNS for asynchronous processing and service-to-service communication • Instrument services with metrics, structured logging, and distributed tracing (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) to maintain reliability SLOs • Deploy and operate services on AWS using Docker and Kubernetes, participating in on-call rotation and incident response • Write comprehensive unit and integration tests, drive code reviews, and raise the engineering bar across the team • Collaborate with frontend and mobile engineers on API contracts, ensuring clean, versioned, well-documented interfaces What We Are Looking For • 3–7 years of backend engineering experience building and operating production services • Strong proficiency in at least one of: Go, Python, Java, or Node.js • Deep working knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and caching layers (Redis, Memcached) • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerized deployments • Experience designing APIs at scale with attention to versioning, authentication, and backward compatibility • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience • Bonus: experience with Kubernetes operators, Terraform, GraphQL, or prior work in high-throughput transactional systems
