Product Development Supervisor Department: Product Development Location: Boring, Oregon Status: Exempt Reports To: Sr. Product Development Manager Supervises: Product Development Technicians and Specialists Employee Classification: Regular, Full-Time Preferred Home Office: Oregon Travel: 25–35% (customer visits, Sales/Marketing support, and support of the Warren, IN facility) Job Summary The Product Development Supervisor leads and coordinates daily product development activities from concept through commercialization. This role manages a team of product developers and technicians, ensuring projects meet customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and company quality standards. The supervisor collaborates with cross-functional partners—including Operations, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, and Marketing—to drive innovation, continuous improvement, and effective commercialization across the product portfolio. Experience & Education • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related technical field preferred • 5+ years of product development experience in the food or beverage industry • 1–3 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred Key Responsibilities • Oversee daily activities of the Product Development team, including workload management, project tracking, and staff development. • Lead formulation and prototype development for new products, product improvements, and cost-optimization initiatives. • Ensure formulations meet customer specifications, shelf-life expectations, and regulatory and food safety requirements. • Partner with Operations and Quality to support scale-up, plant trials, and product commercialization. • Manage communication and timelines between Product Development and Sales. • Maintain organized and accurate documentation, including formulations, batch sheets, specifications, and project summaries. • Evaluate ingredient functionality, processing parameters, and sensory performance to optimize quality and efficiency. • Support pricing and feasibility assessments for new and reformulated products. • Identify and implement process improvements within the product development function. • Coach, mentor, and evaluate team members to support productivity and professional growth.
