Job Description: Seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to serve at Essentia Health's hospital on 32nd Avenue in Fargo, North Dakota. This employee works 40 hours weekly on the evening shift, 5:00 pm to 1:30 am. There are no weekend or on-call obligations, but a holiday rotation is required. A $3000 sign-on bonus is available, minus applicable taxes, paying $1500 after 30 days of employment with a 2-year commitment, and a second $1500 payment after 2 years of employment without additional service requirements. Plays a vital role in ensuring clean, safe, sterile instruments and equipment are available to hospital staff for use in patient care. Key duties include decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, packaging, storage, and distribution of reusable medical and surgical equipment. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to safety and infection control protocols, inventory management, and operating sterilization equipment like autoclaves. Core responsibilities and job details are as follows: • Decontamination and Cleaning: Cleaning and preparing instruments and equipment for sterilization. • Sterilization: Operating and monitoring autoclaves and other sterilization equipment to ensure proper sterilization of items. • Assembly and Packaging: Assembling and packaging surgical instruments into trays and sets according to physician preference or case requirements. • Inventory and Storage: Tracking, managing, and storing sterilized supplies to ensure availability and prevent outdated stock. • Distribution: Distributing sterile instruments and equipment to various departments, such as the operating room, to meet patient care needs. • Quality Assurance: Monitoring and documenting the results of sterilization processes to maintain quality and compliance with regulatory standards. • Safety and Infection Control: Adhering to strict safety and infection control protocols, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) and following Standard Precautions. • Clinical Setting: Working behind the scenes in a hospital or other healthcare facility, collaborating closely with other SPD professionals. • Physical Demands: Involves periods of standing, walking, reaching, and potentially lifting heavy items. • Exposure Risks: May encounter exposure to chemicals, fumes, noise, and blood/body fluids. • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail is crucial for proper instrument processing and maintaining sterility. Wage Range: • Tech I (non-certified): $17-98-$26.97 based on experience. • Tech II (certified): $19.08-$28.62 based on experience.
