About the Role: The Senior Human Resources Generalist plays a critical role in supporting and scaling core people operations across the employee lifecycle. This position partners closely with leadership, managers, and employees to ensure HR programs are compliant, efficient, and employee centric. The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly organized, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, multi-state environment while continuously improving systems, processes, and overall employee experience. The Senior Human Resources Generalist will report to our VP of Human Resources. What you'll do: Recruiting & Interviewing Partner with hiring managers to support full-cycle recruiting for assigned roles, from job posting through offer acceptance Draft, post, and maintain job descriptions aligned with business needs and organizational structure Screen resumes, conduct phone and video interviews, and assess candidate qualifications, skills, and cultural alignment Coordinate and manage interview scheduling, interview panels, and candidate communications Train and support hiring managers on interview best practices, behavioral interviewing, and compliant hiring practices Facilitate offer approvals and extend offers in partnership with leadership, including compensation coordination and documentation Ensure a positive and consistent candidate experience throughout the hiring process Support recruiting metrics and reporting (time-to-fill, candidate pipeline, offer acceptance, etc.) Insurance, Taxes, Compliance & HR Operations Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple jurisdictions Support state tax registrations, ongoing state tax compliance, and related reporting Assist with HR audits and internal reviews to ensure policies, documentation, and processes meet compliance standards Assist with 5500 reporting, non-compliance testing, and workers compensation audits Support policy development, updates, and employee handbook administration Manage all staff files, updates, and audits Handle corporate insurance communications, filings, updates, invoicing, and proof of insurance Additional HR responsibilities Lead and administer end-to-end onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a positive and compliant employee experience Prepare and issue offer letters, employment agreements, and employment-related documentation Coordinate employment verifications, reference checks, background screening, and I-9 verification (remote compliant), and E-Verify where required Maintain accurate employee records and staff files in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations Support payroll processing by coordinating employee changes, audits, and data accuracy with internal and external payroll partners Support employee engagement initiatives, internal communications, and company events Assist in the administration and analysis of employee engagement surveys, skills assessments, and feedback mechanisms Coordinate required and compliance-based training programs (e.g., harassment prevention, safety, role-specific certifications) Track training completion and maintain documentation to support audits and compliance needs Partner with leadership on development initiatives and continuous learning opportunities Support HR initiatives and special projects related to growth, systems implementation, or organizational changes Maintain HR metrics and reporting to support decision-making and leadership visibility Serve as a trusted point of contact to all staff regarding benefits, payroll, employment verifications, performance Assist with Benefits Administration, Payroll (Domestic and Global), Performance Management, Employee Engagement & Events, Learning & Development, and more. Plan and support virtual engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and remote events. Assist with offsite event coordination and planning for staff and leadership Manage the company’s payroll & HR system, Rippling, ensuring all data and employee information is up to date and accurate at all times Serve as a backup to the VP, Human Resources in all functions of HR What you'll need: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience) 4+ years of progressive HR experience, including recruiting and interviewing responsibilities for technical and non-technical roles Strong working knowledge of employment laws, HR compliance, and best practices High level of autonomy and problem solving Proactive, service-oriented mindset Ability to build trust without in-person interaction Comfort supporting staff across multiple states and time zones Experience administering benefits and supporting payroll processes Experience partnering with hiring managers on recruiting and hiring decisions Proven ability to handle sensitive employee matters with discretion and sound judgment Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through Comfortable balancing tactical execution with process improvement Bonus points if you have: Have experience working with a fully remote organization Have experience handling multi-state tax jurisdictions and compliance Experience working with Rippling (Payroll & Entire Suite) HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred but not required
