OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: The FP&A Intern will support Equity Residential’s Financial Planning & Analysis team by assisting with financial analysis that informs enterprise-level decision-making. Under the direction of FP&A leadership, the intern will gain hands-on exposure to financial reporting and performance analysis within a publicly traded REIT. This role provides practical experience working with real financial data, collaborating with cross-functional partners, and developing analytical skills in a fast-paced corporate finance environment. WHAT YOU’LL DO: Contribute to the preparation of financial summaries, reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders and leadership. Assist with competitor and market-level analysis, including recurring benchmarking and portfolio performance reviews. Support quarterly and annual reporting processes by validating data, identifying discrepancies, and performing basic financial reconciliations. Partner with cross-functional finance teams, including Treasury and Financial Reporting, on ad hoc analysis and special projects. WHO YOU ARE; Analytical and Detail-Oriented. REQUIREMENTS Prefer rising Junior or Senior students pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Real Estate, Business, or a related field. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with financial modeling or data analysis is a plus. Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment. Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States (we do not offer this program under OPT or CPT or sponsor work visas). LOCATION & PAY This is a hybrid internship with four days per week of required on-site participation (Monday to Thursday) at our downtown Chicago office. Equity Residential’s corporate summer intern program is a full-time, 10 week paid internship. Hourly Pay Rate: $20.50/hour Relocation is not provided for this internship.
