Full Description

We’re looking for a dynamic and passionate Statewide Advocacy Manager to lead our state and federal legislative advocacy. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of Ohio’s LGBTQ+ rights movement—with legislators, shaping policy, mobilizing communities, and working alongside partners to create meaningful change. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy both strategic planning and hands-on advocacy, and want to make a measurable difference in people’s lives, this role is for you. What You’ll Do Build and maintain strong relationships with lawmakers, staff, and community leaders. Monitor legislation and take quick action when issues impacting LGBTQ+ Ohioans arise. Draft and present testimony, policy briefs, and advocacy materials. Coordinate with coalition partners to align strategies and maximize impact. Represent Equality Ohio at hearings, press events, and community forums. Mobilize grassroots supporters to engage with decision-makers. What We’re Looking For Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Administration or related field of study preferred, but not required Two or more years experience in legislative advocacy related to the Ohio General Assembly required Experience in advocacy, community organizing, or managing campaigns at the state and/or federal level (3+ years preferred) Knowledge of Ohio's political landscape and LGBTQ+ policy issues, specifically related to the Ohio General Assembly Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—and the ability to connect with diverse audiences. Comfort in high-paced environments and readiness to adapt when priorities shift. Ability to travel occasionally within Ohio and work some evenings or weekends.
