Job Title: Officer, Mid-level Giving & Prospecting (EN-7) Organization Unit: Development Reports To: Associate Director, Major Gifts Supervises: This position does not supervise staff. Location: Remote, with applications accepted only from candidates based in the United States. For more information, visit equalitynow.org MISSION OBJECTIVE: The Mid-Level Giving & Prospect Research Officer is a key member of Equality Now’s Development team, responsible for cultivating, stewarding, and upgrading mid-level donors, and identifying and qualifying prospective major individual, corporate, and foundation donors. This dual role combines relationship management with analytical research to strengthen the donor pipeline and advance the organization’s fundraising goals. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following is a general outline of duties and responsibilities for this role. It is not an exhaustive list, and additional duties may be assigned or removed at the discretion of the Associate Director, Major Gifts to meet organizational needs and priorities. Purpose: Coordinates Connected Workflows • Manage a portfolio of approximately 100+ donors giving between $1,000 and $5,000 annually to ensure donor retention and upgrades, building and maintaining relationships through both mass and personalized outreach, including phone calls, emails, letters, event invitations and occasional meetings. • Work collaboratively with the Chief Development Officer and Major Gifts Officer to identify mid-level donors with potential for major giving, and develop tailored outreach and cultivation plans to strengthen engagement and secure larger gifts. • Coordinate recognition efforts, impact updates, engagement opportunities, event invitations and other donor communications to ensure timely cultivation and stewardship of the mid-level and, as needed, major giving portfolio. • Conduct proactive and reactive research to identify, vet and prioritize new prospective donors (individuals, corporations, and foundations) aligned with the organization’s mission and priorities, and conduct/support outreach as needed. • Utilize a range of resources (e.g., wealth screening and relationship mapping tools, databases, media, annual reports) to assess giving capacity, philanthropic interests, connections, and opportunities for warm introductions to prospective donors. • Prepare concise research profiles to support leadership and frontline fundraisers. Engagement: Align • Collaborate with colleagues in Development, Communications, and Programs to understand programmatic initiatives, organizational messaging and impact, and identify donor engagement and recognition opportunities. • Partner with finance and development colleagues to ensure accurate donation tracking and database management for the mid-level giving portfolio. • Collaborate with development colleagues across all revenue channels to build and regularly refresh prospect pipelines and support the tracking of outreach, engagement, potential and probability for qualified funding prospects. • Coordinate and support prospect review meetings between development and program staff to capture new leads, staff connections and prospect engagement. • Participate actively in organizational learning and team planning by documenting and sharing insights from donor and prospect research, and providing recommendations for compelling touchpoints and engagement opportunities. • Support fundraising and donor engagement initiatives as needed, including strong support for our campaigns for International Women’s Day and International Day of the Girl, and sector research. • Support the Development team with Equality Now’s annual Gala including, sponsorship acquisition, guests relations in the lead up to the event and on the night support, as needed. • Represent Equality Now with professionalism and integrity in all donor interactions, from initial outreach through solicitation and stewardship. Delivery: Sustain Service • Maintain accurate records and a consistent calendar of mid-level donor touchpoints, ensuring timely follow-ups and communications and tracking interactions in the donor database (CRM) • Maintain and continuously update tracking systems for the identification, qualification, and engagement of donor prospects, ensuring data accuracy and the collection of actionable information and insights. • Regularly supply revenue leads/frontline fundraisers with qualified funding prospects, providing actionable insights on aligned philanthropic interests, value and potential connections to support prioritization and outreach approaches. • Collect and centralize information on the philanthropic interests of prospective donors to support ongoing, tailored cultivation through segmented donor communications. • Monitor and report on the performance of mid-level donor strategies, using insights to improve effectiveness and engagement. • Maintain high standards of quality across all written donor communications. POSITION REQUIREMENTS & TARGET SKILLS PROFILE Substantive Knowledge • Demonstrated understanding of donor engagement, stewardship strategies, and best practices in mid-level giving and donor pipeline development. • Knowledge of the nonprofit social justice sector is required, specific understanding of international human rights or women’s rights is highly desirable. • Working knowledge of prospect research tools and methods, such as wealth screening, relationship mapping, and donor qualification. • General understanding of the nuances between individual, corporate, and foundation fundraising and how they fit within a fundraising pipeline. • Familiarity with CRM systems and donor data management for tracking, reporting, and segmentation. Communication Skills • Fluent in English; proficiency in Spanish, French, or Arabic is beneficial • Adept at fostering cross-cultural collaboration and cultivating trust-based relationships consistent with the mission and values of Equality Now. • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to draft professional, compelling and audience-specific donor correspondence and stewardship materials. • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence; proven ability to engage diplomatically with culturally diverse stakeholders and high-net-worth individuals. • Skilled in listening and translating insights into actionable recommendations. • Poise and professionalism in representing the organization externally and cultivating long-term donor relationships. Execution Skills • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and multiple workstreams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. • Strong organizational, time management, and project planning skills, with exceptional attention to detail. • Comfort working remotely, across time zones and with culturally diverse staff and stakeholders • Collaborative, adaptable, and eager to learn within a fast-paced, mission-driven team environment. • Analytical and proactive in using data and research insights to inform strategy. Targeted Specialized Knowledge • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required. • 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, development, donor relations, or nonprofit advancement. • Proficiency with fundraising databases and CRM systems; experience with Raiser’s Edge/NXT is strongly preferred. • Comfortable using project management platforms and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom); experience with virtual event tools a plus. • Familiarity with donor research tools, giving trends, and performance metrics in individual giving. • Proven ability to work with discretion, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive donor information. We approach pay holistically, recognizing base salary as one component of a broader total rewards package designed to support well-being, growth, and long-term engagement. Base Salary Range: $55,880 - $68,612 USD The final offer within this range will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, relevant experience, demonstrated skills, and qualifications.
