Senior Software Engineer (Contract, Remote) Contract: 3 months (extendable, with potential for full-time hire) Location: Remote (start ASAP) About the Project EQL Edtech is recruiting on behalf of a foundation-backed initiative exploring a technical co-creation partnership with UNICEF’s Learning Passport - a digital education platform already reaching 11 million learners worldwide, with a vision to scale to 50 million by 2030. The Learning Passport is evolving from a desktop-first platform into a mobile-native, AI-powered solution that can deliver world-class learning experiences in diverse environments, including low-connectivity regions. This role offers the chance to work directly with an expert in the future of work, AI, and entrepreneurship, bringing startup pace and innovation to a global non-profit initiative. Responsibilities Lead React/JavaScript development to improve usability and performance Prototype and ship AI-powered features (e.g., tutoring/study modes) Manage repos, CI/CD pipelines, migrations, and disciplined code reviews Translate technical updates into clear, concise debriefs for stakeholders Align roadmap and product delivery (DevOps board, sandbox vs production) Optimise platform performance for low-connectivity environments First 90 Days Deliverables 30 days: Local environment setup + first tangible UX improvements 60 days: Multiple UX fixes + mobile-native development underway 90 days: Stable UX baseline (auth, navigation, performance) + 2–3 AI features shipped, including AI Study Mode 5–7+ years of hands-on coding experience Strong expertise in React + JavaScript Proven track record of shipping AI-powered features into production Experience in fast-paced, high-standard tech cultures (Google, GitHub, Stripe, Cloudflare, Meta, etc.) Excellent communication skills, proactive, and comfortable in lean teams Why Join?
