An innovative life sciences company is looking for a Senior Director, Executive Communications to join their growing team. This role will serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team, with a particular focus on working with the CEO. You'll be responsible for shaping executive narratives that resonate internally, elevate our external visibility, and reinforce the company's leadership in health innovation. This position plays a critical role in the enterprise communications strategy-ensuring that executive voices are aligned, authentic, and influential across key audiences including employees, media, investors, and industry partners. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to amplify strategic priorities through clear, compelling messaging that reflects our values, business goals, and scientific leadership. Key Responsibilities: Executive Communications Strategy & Advisory • Serve as lead strategist and principal writer for C-Suite and other senior leaders, delivering high-impact communications that support corporate strategy and enterprise initiatives. • Develop and implement an integrated executive communications strategy that aligns leadership voice with business goals, cultural values, and reputation objectives. • Provide strategic counsel on sensitive, high-visibility communications (e.g., organizational change, leadership transitions, crisis response). • Ensure all executive communications are consistent with corporate strategy and regulatory standards. Leadership Visibility & Thought Leadership • Position executive leaders as industry thought leaders through high-profile speaking engagements, media interviews, and panel appearances. • Partner with Investor Relations, Public Affairs, and Government Affairs to ensure executive visibility aligns with broader business and reputation goals. • Draft and place op-eds, bylined articles, and social media content that reflect our differentiated perspective. • Maintain a proactive calendar of internal and external speaking opportunities. Innovation, Channels & Measurement • Use modern storytelling formats-video, social, digital, podcasts, virtual town halls-to increase engagement and accessibility. • Build and manage a long-term executive engagement calendar tied to business milestones, cultural moments, and thought leadership opportunities. • Define and track metrics to assess communications effectiveness and refine strategy based on insights. Enterprise Storytelling & Alignment • Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Commercial, and People teams to shape narratives that elevate company-wide priorities. • Ensure consistency of executive messaging across internal and external channels. • Partner with Internal Communications to cascade executive messages across the organization, fostering clarity and alignment. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field; advanced degree preferred. • 15+ years of experience in executive or strategic communications, including 5+ years advising and writing for C-level executives. • Background in biotech, diagnostics, healthcare technology, or life sciences strongly preferred. • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics for diverse audiences. • Strong strategic thinking and executive presence; trusted advisor to senior leaders with sound judgment and discretion. • Deep understanding of public company communications, industry dynamics, and regulatory considerations. • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail. • Experience leading teams and agency partners with a focus on collaboration and results. • High emotional intelligence and adaptability across audiences and situations. • Proficiency with communications analytics, generative AI, and modern content platforms.
