Job Description: Primary Engineer Location: Stockton-on-Tees Region: Teesside, UK Salary: Competitive Flexibility: Office-Based We are seeking a Primary Design Engineer with experience in Transmission and Distribution (T&D) projects to join our growing team. The base location will be at our office in Teesside and is expected to involve occasional travel supporting customers in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Manufacturing and Energy sectors. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of high-voltage substations and transmission systems, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and technically sound solutions for our clients. Key Responsibilities Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To • Develop detailed primary (physical) designs for substations and transmission systems (typically 11kV to 400kV) • Create and review layout drawings, general arrangements, and equipment plans, including transformers, circuit breakers, isolators, and busbars • Perform technical calculations related to clearances, grounding, and equipment sizing • Coordinate with civil, structural, and secondary (protection & control) teams to ensure integrated design • Support in the preparation of technical specifications, bill of materials, and construction packages • Participate in client meetings, site visits, and provide technical support during construction and commissioning • Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements • Assist in the tendering process and provide engineering input for proposals
