Oversee R&D tax credit department operations, manage staff and projects, ensure compliance and quality, support audits, and drive revenue growth.
7+ years in management, tax, or accounting with advanced Excel skills, strong analytical and communication skills, and preferably a degree or certification in accounting or tax.
This is a remote position. Basic Function: Work as part of multi-disciplinary team to conduct Research and Development (R&D) tax credit consulting services. Duties include leading Client interviews and discussions, assessing applicability of tax benefits, calculating tax savings, preparing supporting documentation and reports, performing technical research at federal and state levels, and developing knowledge of R&D applications by industry. Position’s Intention: The Director of Operations will oversee the day-to-day activities of the R&D department, ensuring that the team is managed and performing efficiently and effectively as business goals are met. Success Measurements: Client satisfaction, annual goals obtained, audits minimized by vigilant adherence to IRS requirements. Essential Duties: · Manages the department staff and production operations of R&D; · Assess pricing, scoping, and benefit analysis requests toward generating Letter of Engagements for potential R&D clientele and overall strategy to grow revenue for the department; · Drive process improvement initiatives, templatization, and work with the technology portal team in development of internal and client-facing workflows to increase the efficiency of report delivery, ability to support small-scale studies in a more scalable manner, and deliver tools to improve revenue-per-employee, and team member satisfaction. · Supports the Finance, Marketing and Management team with pricing, case studies, reporting, and forecasting. · Perform audit support for clients as necessary, including interfacing with outside audit specialist and client, assisting outside audit specialist with drafting responses to IRS inquiries, participating in meetings with IRS agents to support R&D credits claimed, and other audit support as required. · Ensure quality control standards of R&D calculations and reports; · Oversee project assignments, team performance management, bonus submittals, objective setting, and operational metrics; · Assigns with daily team questions, guidance, PTO requests, planning in-person events/CLE opportunities; · Manage strategic client portfolio directly throughout the process to ensure all documentation is received and viable for a complete calculation, filing of proper tax forms in the Credit Result Summary, and assemble of the Final Report.
