Design and build lightweight internal tools for purchasing, inventory, and workflows, including recommending tech stacks and documenting the system.
Experience with no-code/low-code tools, building internal operations systems, and working collaboratively with non-technical teams.
Operations Systems Consultant (No-Code / Low-Code) We’re looking for an experienced no-code / low-code systems builder to design and build a lightweight internal tools for purchasing, inventory, and ops workflows. Our first project is to replace an off-the-shelf purchasing/inventory tool that no longer fits our needs (i.e. SumTracker.com). The right person won’t just “build what we ask” — they’ll help us decide what to build, what not to build, and how to do it in the most efficient and cost-effective way. This role is internal-tool focused, not customer-facing. The Initial Project We need a centralized internal system to accurately track and document historical records related to: • RFQs (Requests for Quote) • Purchase Orders • Shipments to multiple warehouses • Manual inventory counts (lightweight, not sales-driven) We are intentionally not syncing stores, sales channels, or automating inventory movements at this stage. Simplicity matters more than perfection. What Success Looks Like Success = A reliable internal location where our team can: • View historical RFQs and PO decisions • Track what was ordered, received, and shipped to each warehouse • Maintain confidence in our purchasing and inventory records • Easily extend or improve the system over time If the solution solves ~85% of our needs in a clean, affordable way, that’s a win. What You’ll Do (Initial Phase) • Review our current workflows, documentation, and pain points • Recommend the most efficient no-code / low-code stack (e.g. Airtable, Softr, Glide, Retool, or alternatives) • Design a simple, scalable data model • Build dashboards, forms, and workflows for: • Products • Suppliers • RFQs • Purchase Orders • Shipments / Receiving • Manual inventory tracking • Document the system for internal use • Provide a clear estimate for build time and ongoing effort Ongoing Role We are looking for someone we can: • Work with across multiple internal projects • Collaborate with as needs evolve • Potentially expand this system over time This is not a one-off “build and disappear” role. What We’re Looking For • Strong experience with no-code / low-code tools • Experience building internal operations systems • Comfortable making tradeoffs (speed vs. polish vs. cost) • Able to recommend solutions — not just follow instructions • Clear communicator who can work directly with founders and ops teams Important Constraints • Must be affordable and flexible • Must not require ongoing engineering support • Internal-only tool (for now), but designed so it could evolve later Engagement Details • Contract, project-based • Start soon, timeline flexible • Not a fixed weekly hours role • You set your rate • Please include your estimated build time for the initial system
