Description Position Summary EmployIndy guides the local workforce ecosystem and makes strategic investments to remove barriers to quality employment for Marion County residents. The vision for EmployIndy is clear: for all Marion County residents to have access to services and training necessary to secure a livable wage and grow in a career that meets employer demand for talent. The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for leading EmployIndy’s marketing and communications functions with a strong emphasis on strategic brand positioning, vendor management, and storytelling that amplifies EmployIndy’s mission. This role oversees a defined administrative function, manages both internal staff and external vendors, and ensures alignment with organizational objectives, compliance requirements, and performance outcomes. The Director reports to the Executive Vice President, Mission Advancement. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Strategic Marketing & Brand Management – 35% • Lead the development and execution of EmployIndy’s brand strategy to ensure consistent messaging and positioning across all platforms. • Implement strategic storytelling that aligns with EmployIndy’s Strategic Plan and elevates brand awareness in the community. • Oversee EmployIndy’s digital footprint, including website content and social media, ensuring strong engagement and alignment with organizational goals. • Lead the production and distribution of the organization’s Annual Report and other flagship publications. Vendor & Partner Management – 25% • Direct and manage relationships with external vendors (designers, media buyers, PR consultants, etc.) to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality service delivery. • Negotiate vendor contracts, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to brand and funding standards. • Collaborate with partner organizations to align messaging and maximize shared visibility. Communications & Media Relations – 20% • Create and implement a media relations strategy, serving as the primary liaison with media outlets. • Oversee press materials, talking points, and media events to strengthen EmployIndy’s visibility and credibility. • Develop and manage an annual communications calendar across internal and external platforms. Leadership & Team Management – 15% • Supervise marketing and communications team members, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional development. • Provide clear direction, set goals, and ensure effective day-to-day operations of the communications function. Performance Measurement & Compliance – 5% • Evaluate marketing and communications efforts using analytics, reporting outcomes to leadership and funders. • Maintain compliance with branding, communications, and funding requirements. Requirements Education and Experience • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Journalism, a related field, or equivalent experience is required; Master’s degree is preferred. • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, or public relations. • Supervisory or team coordination experience required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Demonstrated experience managing marketing and communication projects from concept through execution. • Proficiency in CRM systems, email marketing systems (e.g., Mailchimp, HubSpot), analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics)., Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). • Knowledge of AP Style and excellent writing/editing skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines. • Strong organizational and planning skills. • Results-oriented, detail-focused, and proactive. • Ability to manage vendor relationships and supervise a team. Performance appraisals will include assessment of outcomes, adherence to organizational values, and demonstration of leadership behaviors aligned with role expectations. Physical Demands and Work Environment • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. • Occasional standing, walking, bending, or lifting objects up to 25 pounds. • Ability to travel locally or nationally as needed. • Standard office environment with regular use of computers and other office equipment. • Hybrid work may be available, subject to job responsibilities and organizational needs. If hybrid work is granted, a minimum of three (3) days is required in office. • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for events, deadlines, or meetings.
