Emerging Tech is seeking a Senior Operations Engineer (Data) to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM-IO). This role is ideal for an experienced professional with deep expertise in health data migration, integration engineering, and enterprise data management. The Senior Operations Engineer will lead the assessment, validation, and optimization of data migrations across multiple EHR systems, ensuring data integrity, performance, and compliance across federal healthcare environments. Key Responsibilities: Assess current EHRM data migration requirements and maintain/update the strategy to meet program goals Monitor and review error and trace logs, message counts, and queue depth by service, process, and operation Track secure data message transmission, retries, suspended messages, and domain-level record counts Validate and update data integration reports supporting VX130 data domains Review, update, and maintain Cerner-to-CDW, VistA, Millennium, or Cloud Database data mappings for migrations Evaluate and integrate data from multiple sources, performing precise data mapping to minimize loss Document VistA extraction and monitoring processes, updating documentation quarterly Interpret Cerner data models for construction of APIs, queries, and reports for internal and external consumption Review and validate Ensemble production domain changes, record edits, schema versions, and payloads Validate Ensemble data flows built with VX130 ClassBuilder, including historical data pulls and load of Cache/IRIS objects, SQL tables, or other storage structures across all regions and environments Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure operational readiness and risk mitigation in data integration efforts Minimum Qualifications: 15+ years of professional work experience Proven experience creating strategies and plans for integrating multiple IT systems or subsystems into operational units, ensuring full functional and performance capabilities Experience coordinating with development and user teams to assess risks, goals, and requirements while ensuring all needs are addressed Demonstrated ability to implement new hardware or software into existing environments while minimizing disruption and mitigating risks Cost-conscious with the ability to balance project goals and resource management Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (or 8 additional years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of degree) Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting the VA or similar federal healthcare environments Experience implementing Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems What We Offer: Competitive compensation Generous paid time off (PTO) and federal holidays 401(k) plan, health, dental, and vision insurance, and other standard benefits Remote-first flexibility with opportunities for long-term career growth Mission-driven work improving federal health IT and interoperability Professional development in health data engineering, integration strategies, and emerging technology
