Full Description

Job Description: • Own the architecture and design of complex, mission-critical systems across the full stack • Partner with the CTO to define and execute long-term engineering strategy • Translate business strategy into practical technical roadmaps and challenge approaches when appropriate • Guide data modeling and system design for scalability, security, and maintainability • Strengthen reliability through monitoring, service-level objectives, incident response, and blameless postmortems • Automate manual work including deployments, data fixes, reporting, reviews, and documentation • Ensure systems meet security, privacy, audit, and compliance requirements for sensitive data • Set engineering standards and lead design and code reviews • Mentor engineers and develop their technical judgment, ownership, and problem-solving • Drive cross-functional technical challenges to completion • Build alignment across U.S. and international engineering teams and represent engineering with product and executive leadership Requirements: • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including time as a Staff, Principal, or equivalent technical leader • Experience in a startup or growth-stage environment where you owned outcomes, not just assigned work • Deep expertise in TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, and PostgreSQL • Strong database fundamentals: schema design, transactions, locking, query performance, and data integrity • Track record of designing and supporting business-critical systems such as workflows, integrations, financial transactions, or sensitive data • Experience making major architecture decisions and clearly explaining trade-offs • Experience scaling a product as customers, markets, and requirements expand • Solid grounding in reliability, monitoring, and incident response • Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining complex ideas to non-technical audiences • Thoughtful approach to AI tools that boosts productivity without sacrificing ownership, oversight, or quality • Comfort operating with high autonomy and ownership outside a traditional Agile or Scrum framework • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship Benefits:
