Position: SCADA Project Manager Department: Engineering / Project Delivery Location: Remote with around 15-20% travel Employment Type: Full-time About the Role We are seeking an experienced SCADA Project Manager to lead the design, implementation, and integration of SCADA systems for utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. The role requires strong technical expertise in control systems, grid integration, and communication protocols, combined with proven project management skills to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget. The SCADA Project Manager will work closely with engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations teams, as well as external stakeholders such as EPCs, system integrators, utilities, and technology vendors. Key Responsibilities • Project Leadership: Manage end-to-end SCADA scope for solar and BESS construction projects, from planning and design through commissioning and handover. • SCADA System Design & Integration: Oversee development and review of SCADA architectures, network diagrams, I/O lists, control strategies, and interface requirements. • Vendor & Contractor Management: Coordinate with SCADA integrators, equipment suppliers, and EPC contractors to ensure compliance with project specifications, cybersecurity requirements, and industry standards. • Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for SCADA-related activities with utilities, grid operators, and clients. • Project Planning & Reporting: Develop project schedules, track progress, manage risks, and provide regular updates to internal and external stakeholders. • Compliance & Standards: Ensure SCADA systems comply with applicable grid codes, cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NERC CIP/IEC 62443), and utility interconnection requirements. • Testing & Commissioning: Lead FAT, SAT, and site commissioning activities, ensuring seamless integration of SCADA systems with plant control, BESS EMS, and utility/ISO systems. • Documentation & Handover: Deliver as-built drawings, operation manuals, and training to O&M teams. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred). • 5+ years of experience managing SCADA, controls, or automation projects in the renewable energy, power generation, or utilities sector. • Strong understanding of solar PV and BESS system architecture, power plant controls (PPC), and energy management systems (EMS). • Knowledge of communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, OPC, TCP/IP, etc.). • Experience with HMI/SCADA platforms (e.g., Siemens, GE, Schneider, Wonderware, Ignition, OSIsoft PI). • Proven track record of managing contractors, budgets, and schedules on large-scale projects. • Familiarity with cybersecurity requirements for industrial control systems. • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills. • PMP or equivalent project management certification (preferred).
