High school diploma, computer literacy with EHR systems, strong communication and organizational skills, and ability to work independently and comply with legal background checks.
SUMMARY OF MAJOR FUNCTIONS: The Billing Specialist is responsible for reviewing and preparing invoices, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of billing data, resolving billing issues, and maintaining accurate records. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assist the Billing Supervisor in preparing claims for submission to ensure compliance with payer requirements and minimize claim rejections. • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of claims that need to be submitted. • Monitor the billing cycle to ensure claims are submitted in a timely manner. • Maintain accurate and complete billing records and reports • Collaborate with the billing team to resolve complex billing issues and denials. • Ensure billing practices are compliant with HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and other regulatory guidelines. • Stay current with industry regulations and payer requirements and implement necessary changes in processes. • All other tasks related to billing. • Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • High school diploma or higher. • Must be computer-literate and able to learn and maneuver in various electronic medical record systems. • Excellent verbal/written communication skills • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and data analytics. • Strong prioritization and organizational skills. • Ability to manage several projects and priorities simultaneously. • Ability to exercise excellent judgment and work independently. • No active police warrants may not be on probation or parole. • Must have no current case open with the Department of Corrections. • Must have no Felony or Misdemeanor convictions for a minimum of (8) years prior to employment. • Must pass an MDOC LEIN Clearance.
