The DSP is responsible for providing Community Self-Advocacy Training & Supports, Prevocational, Supported employment and/or Planned Respite in a high quality manner to children and their families. Responsibilities: Provide high-quality, well-informed direct service to children and families , including planning appropriate activities Participate in initial and ongoing assessments in order to develop effective services for children; advocate and support the child and family when needed; communicate ideas and feedback on goals to create a comprehensive and accurate strategy for care Work cooperatively with collateral contacts, including care managers Travel within a region in order to meet with families and collaterals in the home and community Flexibility around the scheduling needs of the child and/or family; evenings and weekends required Complete all required documentation within expected timeframes Attend supervisions and staff meetings Other duties as assigned Qualifications High school Diploma or equivalent 1 year of experience in working with individuals with developmental, medical, or mental health needs Ability to be flexible, empathetic, and work both independently and on a team Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong attention to detail Self-confidence and an ability to work with a variety of people Flexibility in scheduling including evening and/or weekend hours. Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with reliable transportation · Effective problem-solving skills. · Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Outlook. · Compliance with required background checks, including fingerprinting and drug testing. · Successful completion of all mandatory training Essential Job Qualifications: Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance. Able to provide crisis intervention including physical restraints. Restraints may include resistive force, bending, squatting, kneeling, lying down, and holding youth in order to maintain safety. Ability to sit, squat, crouch and stand for elongated periods of time Ability to lift arms over head in upward reaching motion Ability to walk up and downstairs up to several times per day.
