Today, districts across Missouri use balanceHQ to bring clarity to complex financial decisions, improve transparency, and make choices that create better outcomes for students, educators, and schools. Our mission is simple: help public schools spend less time worrying about money and more time focused on education. As we grow, we’re continuing to build practical, modern tools that help school leaders simplify complex financial work and make better decisions for their districts. Our team is collaborative, Slack-first, hybrid-friendly, and focused on keeping things honest, responsive, and simple. Position Overview You’ll join as a product-minded full stack engineer helping build the next generation of school finance software. You’ll work directly with our founders, engineering team, support, and customers to understand real problems, design simple solutions, and ship features end-to-end. Day to day, you’ll work across React, JavaScript, Python, FastAPI, and product workflows that touch budgeting, financial planning, reporting, and operational finance tools for public schools. You’ll Thrive in This Role If You You love building practical products that solve real problems for real people. You care about the customer experience as much as the code, enjoy working through ambiguity with a small team, and take pride in seeing something you built make someone’s day easier. You have experience with: React, JavaScript, and Python Building customer-facing software Owning projects from concept to delivery Using AI tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools Fintech, accounting software, payroll, HR tech, B2B SaaS, startups, or AI-powered products Apply Even If You Don’t Fit Every Criterion We care most about ownership, curiosity, customer empathy, and the ability to build useful software.
