Overview We are designing the grid of the future! EPE seeks a Power System Automation Product Owner to drive automation and software development efforts. We are looking for an individual who drives on solving hard problems and enjoys working at the intersection of power system studies, product development and software development. This is not a traditional product owner role. The ideal candidate will serve as a bridge between our consulting teams and software group driving various software development and automation initiatives. You will combine technical understanding of power systems modelling and analysis or software development with product leadership to translate complex engineering workflows into practical and scalable software tools. Responsibilities How you can make an impact: Own the product vision and translate the product roadmap into well-defined user stories and acceptance criteria for the development team. Collaborate with software developers, data engineers, and consulting teams to design, prioritize, and deliver product features that create measurable impact. When required, step in to support the development of automation scripts for various modules of the overall product and leverage your technical skills to assist the team in troubleshooting complex issues. Participate in Agile processes including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring alignment between development outputs and engineering needs. Support product quality by defining acceptance criteria, participating in user acceptance testing (UAT), and validating the accuracy of technical data and calculations within the platform. Assist in creating product documentation, training materials, and conducting technical demonstrations for internal teams and external customers. Qualifications Bring your passion, here's what’s needed: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Computer Science (CS) 5+ years of experience as a Power System Studies Engineer with a heavy focus on automating workflows, Software Developer or Technical Product Manager Experience in one or more of the following technical areas: Inverter-based resource modeling in PSSE and PSCAD Steady-state interconnection or transmission planning studies Software Development Experience participating in sales enablement activities or delivering software demonstrations is a plus. Ability to clearly articulate technical product value to both technical and non-technical audiences. Excellent ability to understand and translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable requirements for development teams. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams. Beneficial Experience: Proven experience working within an Agile/Scrum development framework, managing backlogs, and writing user stories. Experience with agile management tools (e.g., Jira).
