Your Role: District Sales Manager The District Sales Manager (DSM) focuses on leading, developing, and creating a motivating environment for the sales staff, to attain desired sales outcomes. In addition, the DSM will be responsible for the direct creation and capture of customer value. With up to 50% field time, the function demands the cultivation of close customer relationships and in-depth market knowledge and market dynamics. Your Responsibilities: Cultivate customer relationships to increase our customer value proposition Develop talent through targeted recruitment, continuous coaching and development, and active retention Build and maintain a high-level performance climate allowing people and ideas to excel, while maintaining high levels of accountability To learn and utilize strategic account management (SAM) key principles and consultative selling. Embrace, spread, and maximize the capability of SAM by working with customers on a collaborative vision, internal and external team coordination, communication, and design of customized solutions. Establish long-term strategic initiatives with customers; confirm pre-established value, review scorecards with decision-makers, and capture the value back for Elanco. To develop business partnerships with identified key customers, prospects, and consultant accounts in a strategic manner. In depth understanding of the customer as demonstrated and communicated through a comprehensive strategic business plan. Identify and assess customer needs. Uncover customer’s solvable problems and opportunities. Incorporate the Elanco product portfolio (products and services) as a part of the solution Work with customers on a collaborative vision, internal and external team coordination, and design of customized solutions. Facilitate the transfer of key messages and scientific information about Elanco products to customers. Accountable for delivering sales results and implementing agreed-upon strategies and plans. What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications): Bachelor’s Degree Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in poultry or animal health sales or equivalent selling experience Excellent communication skills Self-starter with high initiative and sound work ethic Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record Demonstrated ability to learn, apply, and communicate technical/scientific knowledge Travel Requirements: Travel will be required. Overnight travel will depend on location; expect 40% to 60% overnight travel. What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications): Sales experience in the beef industry, feed/nutritional, animal health, key accounts, or strategic account skills preferred Experience or training in strategic accounts, key account management, strategic account management (SAM) process encouraged Demonstrated business acumen Ability to influence across multiple disciplines: ie: veterinary, nutritional, processing, feed milling, sales and marketing, and senior management, or comparable demonstrated skill. Strong learning agility, business acumen and facilitation skills Embrace, spread and maximize the capability of SAM by working with customers on a collaborative vision, internal and external team coordination and design of customized solutions.
