ABOUT THE ROLE: El Valor is seeking a highly motivated, strategic, and self-directed Manager of Communications to lead the organization's communications, brand strategy, and storytelling efforts. This role is ideal for a communications professional who can think long-term and systemically while also rolling up their sleeves to write, create, and execute. As a key member of the Development & External Affairs team, the Manager will elevate El Valor's visibility, strengthen our internal and external communications, and drive campaigns that support student enrollment, staff recruitment, fundraising, and community engagement. This leader will serve as a trusted advisor to executives while also owning day-to-day communications operations. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public affairs, or a related field (Master's preferred but not required). • 5+ years of progressive experience in communications, marketing, or public affairs — ideally in education, human services, social impact, or nonprofit sectors. • A deep passion for advancing equity and strengthening communities — and a belief in El Valor's mission to support children, families, and adults with disabilities. • Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills with strong attention to detail. • Fluent verbal and written English and Spanish communication preferred but not required. • Demonstrated success managing content across social media, email marketing, websites, and digital campaigns. • Experience developing and implementing brand, communication, or public-relations strategies. • Strong project management skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. • Familiarity with tools such as WordPress, Canva, Constant Contact, MailChimp, Form Assembly, and social media management tools. EMPLOYMENT TYPE: • Full-Time • Salary WAGE/SALARY RANGE: • $68,000 – $74,000 / year WORK LOCATION: • 1924 W 21st Street, Chicago, IL 60608 • Flexibility to travel to other worksites/work assignments required.
