Senior Trainer – Software Implementation (Virtual Instructor-Led Training) We are seeking experienced and proactive Senior Trainers to join our team in delivering virtual instructor-led training (VILT) for California’s Department of Child Welfare Services. This role is critical to ensuring social workers are equipped to succeed within the new CARES case management system. Senior Trainers will deliver a standardized four-day curriculum remotely, working in pairs and supported by onsite Proctors who manage in-room engagement and activities. Senior Trainers will also be responsible for providing structured feedback to improve curriculum and delivery and train the next wave of Trainers once the curriculum has been finalized. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, or related field • Experience delivering IT systems training, ideally in government, health and human services, or child welfare contexts • Demonstrated experience leading virtual software training sessions • Prior involvement in train-the-trainer programs or mentoring new facilitators • Ability to document training challenges and provide actionable feedback to improve curriculum and delivery • Strong facilitation skills with remote delivery platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams, Webex) • Exceptional communication and presentation skills • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail • Ability to work collaboratively with co-trainers, site staff, and support teams Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with large-scale software implementation projects • Familiarity with LMS platforms and training logistics • Experience working with county agencies or public sector clients • Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design Key Responsibilities: • Curriculum Delivery: Facilitate a four-day standardized training program remotely, paired with a co-trainer, and broadcast into county-based classrooms • Onboarding and Preparation: Participate in a structured onboarding period (approximately 3 months) to learn the curriculum, delivery tools, and logistics • Training Rollout: Deliver back-to-back training sessions over a 3–5 month period, including potential assignments to virtual broadcast cohorts • Mentorship: Support the onboarding and development of the April Trainer cohort through modeling, documentation, and peer coaching • Feedback and Iteration: Document training challenges, participant reactions, and curriculum gaps; provide structured feedback to the development team to refine materials and delivery • Collaboration: Coordinate with onsite Proctors who manage classroom engagement, answer participant questions, and support exercises • Adaptability: Adjust delivery style to meet the needs of different regions, cohorts, and training environments • Documentation and Reporting: Support tracking of attendance, feedback, and training outcomes as needed Program Logistics: • Trainers will always deliver remotely; Proctors will be physically present in classrooms to support participants • Trainers are paired with co-trainers for all sessions • Travel is not required for Trainers, but scheduling and coordination will be managed centrally • This cohort will help establish delivery norms and support the second wave of Trainers and training programs This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a high-impact statewide initiative, supporting frontline workers through a major systems transition.
