Full Description

Performs analysis of EAA collected environmental data in support of scientific investigations and research of the Edwards Aquifer and its contributing watersheds in support of the mission and values of the Edwards Aquifer Authority. Coordinates development, automation, and integration of environmental data collection systems that include aquifer water level and water quality measurements, rain gauges, weather stations, streams, and springs. Interfaces with other departments to support their data management needs. Compiles and analyzes data for integration with data management systems. Ensures data integrity through quality assurance/quality control protocols. Develops reports and dissemination tools to provide environmental data to internal and external customers. Participates in scientific studies, analyses, and interpretation of environmental data. Works under general supervision. Work is occasionally directed in several aspects and is moderately independent referring to policies, practices, processes, and procedures. Exercises discretion and independent judgment on significant matters. Refers more complex matters to the supervisor. Works collaboratively with others. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, geology, hydrology, meteorology, computer science, data administration, or a closely related field plus a minimum of three years of relevant experience in developing and maintaining relational databases and/or automated data collection systems, or master’s degree plus one year of relevant experience in relational databases and/or data collection systems. Experience with Microsoft SQL Management Studio, scripting languages, or data integration tools preferred. Some familiarity with Power BI and ArcGIS recommended. Must possess excellent written, oral, time management and organizational skills and the ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment, and responsibility. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle. Job performance may require listening, seeing, sitting, talking, occasional reaching, grasping, lifting, handling, feeling, pulling or pushing; balancing, carrying of items such as boxes of materials, books, etc., with weights not exceeding 25 pounds; limited walking, standing, kneeling, stooping, and bending; some irregular hours and long workdays occasionally amounting to as much as 50 hours in one work week, and moderate levels of stress. Job is performance primarily in an office environment with infrequent trips to other offices and limited exposure to weather conditions.
