ECS is seeking a Senior Elastic Engineer to work in our Fairfax, VA office or Remotely.     ECS is seeking talented professionals to join our successful and growing team in building the next-generation Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) Cyber data solution. The CDM Program is the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) dynamic approach to strengthening the cybersecurity of Federal networks and systems through better awareness and visibility into their security posture and cyber threats. ECS is responsible for designing, building, deploying, operating, and maintaining a complete ‘Data Services’ solution which includes the collection, normalization, visualization, and sharing of cyber data from more than 100 Federal agencies. The CDM Data Services product is an integrated suite of multiple Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) products, software configuration packages, and custom code which work together to operate as an integrated solution tailored to meet Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requirements.     We are seeking professionals who thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly collaborative environment where problem-solving, critical thinking, and a holistic approach to serving the mission are key.  Our program operates within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). An aptitude and enthusiasm for continuous learning, improvement, and cyber security is a must!   Role & Responsibilities: ECS is seeking a skilled Senior Elastic Engineer to lead the design, operation, and evolution of our enterprise Elastic solution. This role is central to ensuring the platform remains secure, highly available, and optimized to support mission-critical analytics, search, observability, and security workloads across the organization. The Senior Elastic Engineer will work collaboratively as part of a dedicated engineering team, serving as a technical leader in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving complex issues within the Elastic Stack. They will proactively detect problems, identify emerging risks, and implement preventative measures to maintain a stable and resilient environment. A core responsibility of this role is to drive thoughtful automation that simplifies operations and improves reliability.  The Senior Elastic Engineer will participate in change control processes, maintain rigorous configuration management practices, and ensure the platform adheres to security and compliance standards. They will also support adjacent teams including SRE, DevOps, and Security while providing guidance on best practices for data ingestion, dashboards, and alerts. This role will also partner closely with the Elastic vendor, engaging in support escalations, roadmap discussions, and collaborative planning around product innovation and new use cases. The Senior Elastic Engineer will help ensure ECS leverages emerging platform capabilities, stays aligned with best practices to continuously improve the platform maturity through a strong vendor relationship. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in data analysis and visualization using the Elastic Stack to enable stakeholders to transform platform data into meaningful insights. Ultimately, the Senior Elastic Engineer will contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, advancing ECS’s Elastic capabilities to deliver a robust, scalable, and high-performing platform. Qualifications * US citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust Suitability * 4+ years general experience architecting, deploying, and maintaining core facets of the Elastic Stack which include Elasticsearch and Kibana * 2+ years’ experience with Elastic Agent to include deployment, configuration of agent policies, and troubleshooting common problems * Familiarity with executing the Elastic Stack upgrade process while leveraging concise and repeatable procedures * Experience with monitoring the Elastic Stack and resolving common issues * Experience with common SSL certificate issues and knowledge of how to resolve them * Experience managing Single-Sign On integration with Elastic Stack and troubleshooting user access issues * Able to define user personas and develop simple, effective Elasticsearch Roles to meet their use-case * Comfortable leveraging Elastic APIs through Dev Tools and/or ad-hoc Scripting * Experience developing strategies for and managing Elasticsearch Index & Snapshot Lifecycle Management (ILM) * Strong communication skills with ability to translate difficult technical discussion into business language * Skilled at designing clear, efficient technical delivery plans that drive high-quality outcomes and predictable execution
