ECS is seeking a Senior Cyber Capability Developer (Reverse Engineer) to work in our Newington, VA office.     ECS is proud to support a new 5-year contract with the FBI’s Operational Technology Division (OTD) Research & Development Support Program. This program advances innovative research, development, and IT infrastructure initiatives that empower the FBI’s mission. Our work spans IT Support, Cybersecurity, IT Services, and Administrative Compliance—developing technical solutions to complex operational challenges faced by the Bureau in an evolving digital environment. As a Senior Cyber Capability Developer (Reverse Engineer), you’ll use your deep technical expertise to analyze, deconstruct, and understand complex software and firmware systems. You will help identify vulnerabilities, develop mitigations, and design solutions that enhance the FBI’s ability to counter cyber threats. This role blends reverse engineering mastery with Agile development practices in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. RESPONSIBILITIES * Reverse Engineering: Conduct in-depth analysis of software binaries, firmware, and systems to uncover vulnerabilities, reverse proprietary code, and understand intricate program behavior. * Vulnerability Research: Identify weaknesses, design flaws, and exploitable conditions through static and dynamic analysis. * Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work closely with developers, analysts, and security engineers to design countermeasures and enhance system resilience. * Technical Documentation: Produce detailed reports and technical documentation outlining methodologies, findings, and recommendations. * Continuous Improvement: Evolve reverse engineering processes, integrate automation, and incorporate emerging techniques to advance team capabilities. * Knowledge Sharing: Provide technical mentorship and contribute to the continuous learning culture within the engineering team. Qualifications * Must have an active Top Secret with eligibility for SCI w/CI Poly. * 8+ years of experience in reverse engineering, cybersecurity, or software development. * 3+ years of experience working in Agile environments, ideally in project leadership or technical roles. * Expertise using industry-standard reverse engineering tools such as IDA Pro, Ghidra, JEB, or Hopper. * Experience with mobile platform analysis and exploitation, including iOS (Objective-C, Swift) and Android (Java). * Location: Newington, VA — Hybrid work environment with the potential to work two days onsite and three days remote each week, based on mission needs.
