ECS is seeking a Lead PowerApps Developer to work remotely. ECS is seeking a Lead PowerApps Developer to support the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program. This role will lead the design, development, optimization, and governance of the enterprise Risk Management Application (RMA) and associated Power Platform solutions supporting more than 4,500 tracked risks, issues, and ideas across the program. The Lead PowerApps Developer will provide services to VHA and EHRM-IO clients including application architecture, Power Apps development, Power Automate workflow engineering, data integration, platform governance, and technical leadership. This role requires a strong blend of hands-on development, system design, collaboration with federal stakeholders, and mentorship of development staff. The successful candidate works well in a team environment; demonstrates high attention to detail; applies critical thinking and creativity to technical problem-solving; and possesses strong written and oral communication skills. The candidate must be highly proficient in Microsoft Power Platform technologies, including Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, Power BI, and related Microsoft 365 services. The candidate must be able to understand complex program objectives, the VA client environment, and varied stakeholder needs, and translate these into scalable, secure, and high-performing technical solutions. The candidate will plan and organize development work across multiple workstreams and deliver high-quality, production-ready solutions that meet enterprise performance, security, and compliance standards. The candidate will maintain regular client interaction and will proactively anticipate technical and operational needs, define recommended architectures, and lead continuous platform improvements in support of high-visibility federal initiatives. This role requires a combination of advanced technical development, system design, problem solving and analytical skills, collaboration and teamwork, flexibility, and client relationship management. Salary Range: $80,000 – $100,000 (Final compensation commensurate with experience) Responsibilities & Tasks Power Apps Development & Architecture * Lead the ongoing development and optimization of the Risk Management Application (RMA) supporting enterprise-wide tracking of over 4,500 risks, issues, and ideas. * Design and implement scalable application architectures, reusable components, and performance enhancements to improve system reliability and user experience. Power Automate Workflow Engineering * Develop and maintain Power Automate Cloud Flows to support escalations, alerts, document processing, approvals, and data synchronization. * Ensure flow reliability through robust error handling, connection management, and performance monitoring. Platform Governance & Security * Establish and maintain standardized deployment practices, solution versioning, environment configuration, and application lifecycle management. * Support adherence to enterprise security and governance standards across all Power Platform assets. Data Management & Integration * Design and support processes that generate accurate, structured datasets for use in Power Apps, Power BI, and downstream integrations. * Ensure data integrity and consistency across multiple SharePoint lists, application modules, and reporting environments. Collaboration, Support & Requirements Management * Partner with VHA and EHRM-IO stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize enhancements, and support enterprise adoption. * Serve as a subject-matter expert (SME) for RMA and Power Platform. * Lead UAT cycles, facilitate cross-functional collaboration, and deliver system demonstrations and end-user training. Developer Leadership & Mentorship * Mentor junior and mid-level developers on Power Apps, Power Automate, and RMA architecture. * Perform code reviews, provide technical guidance, and enforce development best practices. * Support onboarding of new developers and produce documentation to strengthen team capacity and knowledge continuity. Monitoring, Optimization & Quality Assurance * Monitor application and workflow performance, troubleshoot production issues, and implement continuous improvements. * Maintain technical documentation, audit logs, and QA procedures to ensure reliability, scalability, and compliance.
