ECS is seeking a Cloud Engineer to work in our Arlington, VA office / remote. The Cloud Engineer will play a critical role in supporting a federal IT modernization initiative by designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure solutions. This position requires working within a highly regulated environment while driving innovation and efficiency through cloud adoption. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to migrate legacy systems, implement cloud-native solutions, and ensure compliance with federal security standards and regulations. Working as part of a dynamic modernization program, the Cloud Engineer will contribute to transforming government operations through scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud technologies. Responsibilities Infrastructure Design & Implementation * Design and implement scalable cloud architectures using AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or other FedRAMP-authorized cloud platforms * Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates * Migrate legacy on-premises systems to cloud environments while maintaining operational continuity * Configure and manage virtual networks, load balancers, storage solutions, and compute resources Security & Compliance * Implement cloud security best practices in accordance with NIST frameworks, FISMA requirements, and agency-specific security controls * Configure and maintain security groups, network access control lists, identity and access management (IAM) policies * Support Authority to Operate (ATO) processes and maintain continuous monitoring capabilities * Ensure compliance with FedRAMP, FIPS 140-2, and other federal security standards Operations & Monitoring * Implement automated monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for cloud infrastructure * Perform capacity planning and cost optimization analysis * Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans * Support 24/7 operations through on-call rotation and incident response procedures * Create and maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures Collaboration & Innovation * Partner with application development teams to optimize cloud resource utilization * Participate in architecture review boards and technical design sessions * Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing initiatives * Research and evaluate emerging cloud technologies for potential adoption Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000 General Description of Benefits [https://ecstech.com/careers/benefits] Qualifications * U.S. Citizenship * Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience * 7+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure management, or related technical roles * Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
