Position: Vice President Engineering Location: Irvine, CA on-site Position Description Lead and oversee the technical execution of new and existing UAS, CUAS and Defense Software product design, fabrication, test and productization. • Lead the long-term functional engineering team development roadmap to ensure we have the skillsets, capabilities and workflows to enable successful execution of current and future programs. • Own technical success and process that drive a culture and meet deliverable timelines in all phases of development. • Establish and maintain a design standard that includes a library of standards, allowable, and tool sets to build upon. • Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability • Work with senior leadership to ensure resource plans are adequate. • Find, hire, manage, and mentor the team of tech fellow, chief engineers and functional managers and communicate that vision to them. • Partner closely with the business lines in areas of business capture, customer interface, resource planning, capital expenditures and program schedules. • Oversee the implementation of best practices in engineering development and sustainment Required Skills/Qualifications Deep understanding and leadership experience developing systems for DoD customers. • Strong understanding of the “why” behind systems design • Experience creating teams and focusing them around a common vision • Experience driving teams in both when scrappy innovation is expected and when mission critical quality is required • Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor team members and a track record of creating and maintaining a high-performing engineering culture. • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance technical innovation with business priorities. • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with a knack for innovation and creative thinking • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and align with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Experience sustaining, troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed systems • Experience in the leading development of engineering program plans, to assure complete integration of all product interfaces and internal disciplines, as well as plan execution. Education • Bachelor’s degree in engineering. • 15+ years’ experience in aerospace and defense or vehicle system development • 5+ years of experience in a senior role leading DoD program from initial concept through test and delivery to customers Clearance Level Required: No Security Clearance is required, but it is highly desired. Travel: 10-15% Working Conditions: The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, such as a general office environment or warehouse. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. • Must have the ability to stoop, stand, climb, occasionally lift a minimum of 25 lbs. • Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine • Involves movement between departments, floors, and worksites to facilitate work. Other Requirements: It is an essential requirement for the person in this role to have a legal right to work in the United States and be eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization and DoD Clearance. Salary: $210,000- $250,000 annually Salary depends on relevant work experience, education, training, essential skills, and/or other factors such as specialized or high-demand professions. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible for an annual bonus. The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of salary or annual bonus.
