About DUPR Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) is the global rating system for pickleball - used by players, clubs, and organizations across every level of the sport. Our mission is to make pickleball more connected, competitive, and fun through data-driven insights and accessible technology. The Role We’re looking for a Sports Data Analyst who can turn match data into compelling stories.You’ll analyze data from the professional pickleball space along with DUPR’s collegiate and minor league ecosystems to uncover trends and standout performances - shaping the narratives that appear on DUPR’s social and digital platforms. This is a part-time, cross-functional role at the intersection of data science and marketing. You’ll write and run code to explore data, summarize insights, and hand off clean storylines and datasets to the marketing/design team. What You’ll Do • Query, clean, and aggregate DUPR match data using Python, R, and/or SQL. • Analyze performance trends across DUPR’s pro, college, and minor league verticals. • Identify and pitch data-driven storylines - e.g., rising stars, dominant duos, biggest upsets, win streaks. • Develop lightweight scripts to automate recurring analyses and leaderboards. • Summarize findings in concise briefs for the marketing team to visualize and post. • Collaborate with the data science team to ensure accuracy and consistency in metrics. Who You Are • Proficient in Python, R, and/or SQL for data manipulation, aggregation, and analysis. • Comfortable working with structured datasets and large tables. • Passionate about sports analytics and how numbers can tell stories. • Familiar with pickleball or other sports analytics frameworks. • Strong communicator - able to translate technical insights into clear, engaging narratives. • Organized and self-directed; able to manage 10 hours/week and deliver consistent insights. Nice to Have • Experience with data visualization tools (Looker Studio, ggplot2, matplotlib, Tableau, etc.). • Understanding of the DUPR rating system. • Experience in sports journalism, marketing, or social content creation.
