POSITION : Managing Director of Schools LOCATION : DSST: Home Office (In Person, Denver, CO) SALARY : $135,000-$164,600 based on years of aligned experience in a role of similar level and responsibilities, up to 6 years. We also offer a relocation stipend if you are moving from a location greater than 75 miles from Denver! STATUS : Full time year round, benefits eligible, exempt, in-person position START : July 2026 DSST Public Schools is forming a new team of Managing Directors of Schools who will provide network-level leadership and oversight for DSST middle and high schools. The ideal candidate will be an experienced school leader with a proven track record of success in driving incredible school results, an extraordinary developer of leaders who can build the capacity of School Directors, be a regional ambassador for DSST to build authentic community connections and has a deep commitment to equity and anti-racist leadership in schools. Overview: An experienced School Director/Principal who assumes full ownership for the outcomes of two or more school campuses while also serving as a liaison to the Home Office and a symbolic leader in the community. Managing Directors are fully responsible for the results of the schools they oversee as defined by the School Report Card and share responsibility for results in the DSST Public Schools Network Report Card. Managing Directors will spend their time focused on four primary areas. They will: • Develop School Leaders: Formally developing the School Directors or School Directors In Training that they manage through structured coaching, data analysis and observations; • Get Results : Driving strategic school improvements using data in order to drive results in schools and across the region; • Be Network Leaders: Coordinating a Home Office regional support team and contributing to strategic decision-making in the Home Office; • Be Community Leaders: Building a comprehensive community engagement strategy to drive community connection in their region and equity of voice within school communities. Development • Meets regularly with the head of Leadership Development to reflect on and improve their own leadership practice • Will work closely the head of Leadership Development to implement a disciplined development sequence (weekly) for the leaders they manage • Responsible for supporting strategic learning opportunities for School Directors. • Works to develop leaders with the expectation that the needs of the network must always be balanced with the needs of individual schools • Responsible for succession planning at their schools • Will identify emerging leaders for network-level development School Improvement/Results • Drives improvement in DSST’s most mission critical outcomes of the schools you oversee. • Directly responsible for assisting a school(s) in all efforts to improve a school’s leadership, culture, systems, structures, instructional practices and philosophies, for the purpose of ensuring student academic growth. • Responsible for supporting, guiding, problem solving, and coaching school administrators in instructional leadership, building a positive and effective school culture, and management of staff. • Guide, support, coach and develop school administrators with instructional practices that support the mission and vision of DSST Public Schools. • Responsible for overseeing the development, implementation and monitoring of all school budgets. Network Leadership • Network leaders who successfully balance decision-making that is in the best interest of both the network and the schools they oversee • Coordinates a regional support team of Home Office staff that spans multiple departments including Ops, Human Capital, MAC, Special Services and others • Collaborates with Home Office leaders on strategic priorities in support of school success • Serve as a Home Office Liaison, ensuring a smooth flow of information between the Home Office and the schools you lead. Community Engagement • Builds a comprehensive community engagement strategy specific to the region/s they represent • Represents DSST regionally with community partners • Works to develop and deepen partnerships with community based organizations • Invests DSST team members to engage and invest in the communities we are serving • Ensures that schools build strong relationships with families • Maintain and increase enrollment demand Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Directly manage School Directors at your campuses. • Coach and support School Directors, School Directors in Training and Associate School Directors. • Regularly spend time in each school, model best practices and work alongside School Directors to support them in leading the school. • Develop professional development opportunities for school leaders. • Assist School Directors in the development of effective school and classroom instructional practices. • Oversee the hiring process for school administrators and evaluate school principals. • Maintain and deepen current educational learning on an ongoing basis. • Communicate and problem solve with parents, school staff, and administrators. • Serve as a symbolic leader in the community, develop community partnerships. • Oversee budgets to ensure spending and reserve targets are met. Job Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university required • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in teaching and administration, including a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a school administrator, at least 2 years directly leading a school. • Evidence of driving meaningful and lasting results at the school level. • Experience leading school community engagement strategies or events. • Strong project management and analytical skills • Strong presentation and communication skills • Ability to build strong relationships across cross-functional teams • Ability to navigate uncertainty and ambiguity and to prioritize work efforts to achieve overall strategy Who We Are At DSST Public Schools , we are proud to achieve transformational results for our 7,500+ students — 97% of whom attend a Green (top-rated) school.
