Full Description

Job Description: • Develop, test, and deliver new full-stack features, web pages, and RESTful API endpoints for NWPS modernization tasks • Construct responsive, accessible web interface components including hydrographs, data tables, map widgets, and location search views • Write Python scripts and SQL queries to parse, transform, and store multi-source hydrologic datasets in Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL and S3 • Write automated unit and integration tests using Pytest, Jest, or unittest • Utilize VLab GitLab and GitHub for feature branching, pull/merge requests, automated pipeline execution, and peer code reviews • Participate in daily Scrum stand-ups, sprint planning, story estimation, and issue tracking in Jira/VLab Redmine • Assist senior engineers with automated sandboxed tests and schema checks for public community-driven code contributions • Collaborate with Senior Developers, GIS Specialists, and Government hydrologists on National Water Prediction Service features Requirements: • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of professional experience in full-stack web application development and API engineering • Hands-on experience building full-stack web applications, consuming and creating REST APIs, and querying relational/spatial databases • Practical experience using Git workflows (branching, pull requests) and writing automated unit tests • Proficiency in Python (FastAPI, Flask, or Django), JavaScript/TypeScript, and HTML5/CSS3 • Practical knowledge of RESTful API design, PostgreSQL / SQL, JSON/GeoJSON parsing, and relational database schema design • Demonstrated ability to build accessible web components adhering to Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines • Familiarity with AWS cloud environments (AWS Fargate, S3, Aurora), Docker containerization, and basic Infrastructure as Code concepts • Experience with Pytest, Jest, Git repositories (VLab GitLab/GitHub), and issue tracking tools (Jira/Redmine) Benefits:
